View Full Version : What size motor for an xxx4 BillH 09-15-2008, 08:17 PM I am thinking about going brushless. What size motor should I go with. I am running a 10x2 right now. Thanks Bill Butters16 09-16-2008, 06:32 PM As big as you can Bill  BillH 09-16-2008, 07:58 PM I dont want that big maybe 7.5 or 8.5 420 Tech R/C 09-16-2008, 08:24 PM Bill , I was running a 8.5 in the xxx4 and it was just right.Power on the low end with some top end if you gear it . BillH 09-16-2008, 08:35 PM What gear were you running? I have 18/92 with the 10x2 but shes warm I am going to try 16/92 RCDawg83 09-18-2008, 12:24 PM I'm using a Novak 5.5L in my B44. It's screaming fast on the high end but controllable. CClay1282 09-18-2008, 03:54 PM The novak 5.5L is a "Light" version. Its the difference between running a single and double in modified. It gives it more controllable low end, but still the overall power and speed of the normal 5.5. CClay1282 09-18-2008, 03:55 PM BTW, if your gonna go big, go BIG. You can always lower the gear on a 3.5 - 5.5 if you dont need all the speed. teamductape 09-20-2008, 10:34 PM i'm running the 5.5 in my xxx4 and it's controlable but excessive if i punch it on a 140' straight all 4 tires scramble for traction half way down i haven't tried any other motors but i would guess a 5.5 light or a 6.5 light would be the sweet spot Go4iT 09-22-2008, 03:28 PM BillH, I just put in a SS4300 Novak into my Losi XXX4. It's not as fast as your 10t but is as fast as that 19t option. I like to race so, I'll fly with whatever the 4WD class (majority) want to do. Paradise, CA. Crptracer 09-23-2008, 07:19 PM the 8.5 is a good start but I think you will end up with the 5.5...youll love the speed for sure vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
