View Full Version : Indoor carpet racing at RCP in Madison WI
cheatr71 09-08-2008, 04:41 PM Just wanted to let everyone know that RCP in Madison WI is now racing indoor carpet. They plan on running oval,(not sure what night yet, possible every FRI. but hopefully everyother Sat. which would be the off week from Tri-Clone), 13.5 Sedan, minis and offroad trucks. Personally I only care about oval, but thought I would spread the word over here on Hobbytalk. Check out there thread on RCtech and help get this business some support, they changed from dirt to carpet in hopes of getting more racers I THINK!!!!
I don't work for them or know them It's just closer to home for us Illinois racers and anything helps with the winter and gas prices.
dragracer53545 09-08-2008, 06:00 PM I am planning on racing there this winter, Onroad and Oval. I have run my Onroad car there. The track surface is smooth! The timing loop is above the track on a bridge. No Bump. The track has a nice drivers stand about 4 feet off of the floor. I will try to help out with info when needed.
Dave
Hitman-98 09-08-2008, 07:19 PM I will try to check it out...anything beats that s**t hole in Monroe!
jashack79 09-08-2008, 08:46 PM I have posted on the Rc tech thread and am trying to set up a meeting with RCP to set a schedule that will not conflict with everyone else. I hope saturdays will work for them, if we can get 20-30 i think they will be impressed.
I will keep you all posted.
Jason
dragracer53545 09-08-2008, 09:19 PM Jason,

Not sure where I got that impression...hmmm
Must have been the time I about passed out from the diesel smoke....oh no, maybe the time I cracked my head on the I-beam on the driver's stand....no no, it must have been the time I about took an eye out from the cut off pipe hanging down next to the track...:drunk:
And it's all good on the other half
dragracer53545 09-08-2008, 10:27 PM So Mike,
Will you be bring the Late model to RCP?
If so which class limited or masters?
Dave
Hitman-98 09-08-2008, 10:29 PM I will bring it if we get enough guys. Limited I guess...13.5 4 cell
If I get my crap together, I may go to Dubuque this Sunday and check out the new rug.
cheatr71 09-08-2008, 10:37 PM hey hitman-98 jason from rkfd will be at dubuque on sun. also, I have three cars to shake down. Are you looking for any parts or equipment? Maybe trade they are suppose to have a swap meet.
Hitman-98 09-08-2008, 10:44 PM Have to see if I can get there for sure. Big race in Farley this weekend, got to wrench on a car. All depends on the weather.
cheatr71 09-08-2008, 10:52 PM I was only offering to Hit-man 98 not anybody else, if he's not interested nothing is for sale. Just thought I would help out an old latemodel racer switch over to the dark side of racing.
cheatr71 09-08-2008, 11:01 PM If RCP is going to or thinking of running a latemodel series would an ASA Latemodel Body?
jashack79 09-10-2008, 09:57 PM Spoke with Jim at RCP and saturdays will be for oval, alternating with west bend. I would like to get a race going for the last saturday in sept.
I would like to invite all to come and show RCP how good a show we can put on.
They will run any class we have so bring your latemodels, 13.5/lipo21.5, 10.5/lipo17.5.
I also mentioned a possible WBRL race and he was very excited to get oval back in madison.
Please help me support RCP and oval racing.

Hitman-98 09-11-2008, 07:22 PM where is rcp in madison ????
I-90 to 12/18 west to 51 north...first light right....next right...on the left
jashack79 09-11-2008, 07:59 PM Thanks Mike, also you can check out their website. It is www.rcperformance.com for pics and directions. Ignore the dirt track, it is gone and now all carpet. The track is 40x70 so it should be a good sized track. I will see what time we can get in the building on saturdays, their hours are 10 to 4 but we probably can race later than that.
Hope to see many on the 27th of sept.
Jason
cheatr71 09-11-2008, 08:44 PM I wish i could make the 27th but I have one big weekend full of big car racing left. I will be game for any weekend after that. Jason
jashack79 09-11-2008, 11:10 PM I will try to get a schedule before that so we all know where and when we can play.
jason
Hitman-98 09-12-2008, 11:18 AM I can't make it the 27th either, but I'm in for the rest. I even have a 10.5 I may try out and let Jason kick my a**
TeamGoodwrench 09-12-2008, 02:53 PM Wow ... cool -- that place is like 15 minutes from my house !
I'll run oval there.
dragracer53545 09-12-2008, 06:48 PM Will there be any interest in a 17.5 class?
Dave
jashack79 09-12-2008, 07:11 PM Are you talking 4 cell or lipo. My dad is planning on running 4 cell 17.5 for the BRL and will have a car ready. But I stole his motor to run some lipo.
There will be a few of us running 17.5 lipo/10.5 too.
Jason
dragracer53545 09-12-2008, 08:07 PM I am talking 17.5/4cell. I am planning on running the BRL race at Trackside.
I also will have a 13.5/4cell late model or Nationwide.
Dave

GordonFreeman 09-21-2008, 10:56 PM Hi all, This is John from RC Performance in Madison. Just thought I would chime in on this forum too.
Please check out our new website and calander at www.rcperformance.com

You will notice a birthday party is also scheduled for Saturday from 12:00 to 2:00pm. So you won't be able to practice during that time. Just thought I'd give a heads up on that. I have 4:00pm on the calander but I'm not really sure when we will start exactly.
See ya'll Saturday!
TeamGoodwrench 09-22-2008, 09:40 AM Will practice be open from 10:00 am until 12:00 Sat. morning ??
Thx.
jashack79 09-22-2008, 02:01 PM Do to a schedule conflict we will not be able to run oval sept 27.
RC Performance is very sorry for the mishap. However I do plan on getting the track set up thursday night and hopefully run some laps friday night,
Jeff F. if you want to come down they are open til 8.
The first race will be Oct 18. doors open at 10 racing at 1.
There will be an open practice on oct 4 from 10 til 4.
We just want to do this right and canceling the 27th was the best thing to do.
Thanks, Jason Hack

jashack79 09-26-2008, 10:57 PM Went to rcp and laid out the apron and the infield is 16 feet wide with 13 foot lanes, didnt get to run they had the road course setup already.
This is going to be one of the best places I have ever raced, and I cant wait.
Jason Hack
MIDWESTRC 09-27-2008, 02:34 PM Any idea what the runline will be? Thanks
GordonFreeman 09-27-2008, 11:40 PM I'll check tomorrow, I think it is 60-70' long. So if the outside is 65' long and we take Jasons numbers of 16' wide island and 13' wide lanes, the runline is ~120'. Not sure if that's exactly how it will be layed out or how you guys calculate runline.
Jason, are we going to just make a longer loop bridge or what?
jashack79 09-27-2008, 11:52 PM John,
My dad is gonna work on a telescoping loop, and your measurements are close except I figured 11 feet from the outside of the apron to the wall, I think that should be enough room to pass. It should be a cool track.
gonna go down to dubeque sunday to promote rcp.
Remember sat oct 4 will be open oval practice from 10 to 4.

Good to see you and your Dad last Sunday at DBQ. Had some really good racing. The new carpet is fantastic - you Madison guys are in for a treat with your Calandra rug - good consistent traction and no wrinkles or shifting from running marshals.
See you again soon!
Jim
