View Full Version : Harry Potter goof?
Old_McDonald 09-07-2008, 03:42 PM Was watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire this weekend and I think I found a goof.
Harry was able to "Axio Firebolt" to call his broom from his room to the location where he was battling the dragon.
He also "axio-ed" the portkey cup to escape Voldemort and return with Cedric's body.
So why couldn't Harry "axio" the golden egg from the dragon? I didn't read the book so I was wondering if there was an explanation.
Zorro 09-07-2008, 03:51 PM Golden eggs are notoriously un-axioble.
mikephys 09-07-2008, 06:06 PM Dragons, being magical creatures themselves, have defenses against simple spells that humans might try against them. This is especially true when it comes to their eggs.
Translation: Insert some technobabble (magicobabble?) to make the story progress correctly. ("We can't beam you up right now captain, the ---- field is interfering with the transporter. I guess you will just have to solve the problem and resolve the storyline with out your magical technology to rescue you and make things too easy!")

I cannot believe that they pushed the release date of "Half Blood Prince" til next Summer, just because of some vampire love story flick.
Jaruemalak 09-08-2008, 02:05 PM Yeah, and my daughter is going ape nuts over that vampire flick. She's a big BIG fan of the "Twilight" books. When the last one was released, they had a big to-do here in Grand Rapids at Barnes and Nobel, releasing it at midnight (like they did with the Harry Potter books) and she was one of the first in line. As a surprise, they had one of the actors from the movie there, signing autographs. She was more than a little shocked when she discovered that
A: he was from Grand Rapids, and
B: she knew him! Turns out they'd taken some classes together a few years back. So that pretty much made her year!

I'm still catching up.....what movie is that vamp flick?

Twilight...I am hearing good things about it, and I am thrilled that there is a new generation of kids that are digging the vampire scene. But does it all have to be angst ridden melodrama? Can't we just have a cool guy in a cape and tux?
I would love to see someone do Bram Stokers' Dracula with Jeremy Irons playing the Count. That would be the epitome of cool for me.

Dang! I thought this was going to be about those limo shots of Emma Watson!
Nova Designs 09-09-2008, 12:53 PM Because the golden eggs had spells cast on them to prevent magic cheating. Next time, read the books! ;)

Oh myyyyyyy:roll:Did not know about those!!!
why read the books if your gonna see the movie? 99 out of 100 times the book is always better due to your imagination!
Roguepink 09-09-2008, 09:45 PM Yes, yes, READ THE BOOKS! So much more is happening in the books than ever makes the movies. The H.P. movies have been good, but never as good as the books.

She is one of those child actresses that have grown up to be quite beautiful.
Some of them grow up so that those cute or beautiful child faces wind up looking funny or they wind up being very clunky looking as their bodies mature or we find out that they can't act convincingly as adults. She has definitely passed all the tests.
I hope she gets lots of good roles offered her in the future. If she's smart, she'll settle for a little less money than what she's been paid for the Potter flicks.
