If Al Adamson was the poor man's Roger Corman, was Ray Dennis
Steckler the poor man's Al Adamson?

What I love here is that "Cash Flagg" IS Steckler, using a pseudonym!

Believe it or not, I just watched the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version of this turkey yesterday! It's when I see movies like this that I wonder HOW anyone can really think that "Plan 9 from Outer Space" is the worst movie ever made. There are MUCH, MUCH worse movies out there!

Ed Wood's pictures may have had zero budget, but they were always entertaining.

Ed Wood's pictures may have had zero budget, but they were always entertaining.

And memorable.

A talented filmmaker I used to work with once said; "Except for a couple of misdirected synapses, Ed Wood could have been David Lynch."

I think this is pretty much true.

If you ever get a chance, be sure to check out the MST3K episode with Bride of the Monster. It's one of their best, Bride ia a extraordinarily goofy movie even coming from Ed Wood, and the satellite o' love crew is pretty inspired. For some unfathomable reason the MST3K episode has never been officially released and is only available on bootleg, though it used to air regularly on Comedy Central back when they had MST3K.

Really? When were you married to Rita Hayworth?

I wish.

Ed Wood's pictures may have had zero budget, but they were always entertaining. However, they were usually entertaining in ways that Wood never intended.

And Orgy of the Dead (1965), Wood's first foray into the softcore "nudie" genre, is just plain boring. Although one A.C. Stephens is credited as director, Wood served as writer, production manager, casting agent, and even held up cue cards on this un-erotic snooze fest.

Really? When were you married to Rita Hayworth?I wish.

“ME?”

Why don't they make women like that anymore?

Yes, actually, that is one of my favorite episodes. I heard (although that is by no means proof) that a bunch of Ed Wood's films got re-copyrited (if such a thing is possible) when the Tim Burton movie came out.

I am one of those MST3K fans who owns every episode. I am so MUCH of a MST3K geek that I even own a couple props from the show, including the "William Sylvester Trivial Pursuit" game used in the "GORGO" episode.

And, yes, Orgy of the Dead is pretty awful. I mean, their "werewolf" consists of a guy in a Don Post Wolf Man mask. You can see his hair stick out through the back of the mask, and his un-made up skin underneath as well! Good old Ed Wood... he should have stuck to acting.
