Hello

I just purchased a Craftsman 6.75 HP lawnmower today with a Briggs and Stratton engine, i never owned a gas mower always electric.
There was a cartridge included that was suppose to be attached to the gas cap, it is suppose to keep the gas in the tank fresh over time "FRESH START " well dumb me didnt read the instructions and thinking it should fit over the opening of the gas tank, well it slipped and went into the gas tank, i cant get it out.

I am hoping i can open the gas tank and retrieve it ?

The gas tank does not open. You can remove the tank from the engine and very possibly shake and rattle the tank enough to get the cartridge to fall back out the opening, although the cartridge probably won't hurt anything just hanging out in there.

If you want to remove the tank, there is a bolt near where the fuel line attaches to the tank that must be removed, and then there are three small cap head screws on top under the decorative cover that either snaps in place or may be held on with a couple of screws.

Best of Luck...

nope, its a formed tank, only way you can get it out is to tip it over and hope you can get it out, take the gas tank off and shake it out, or, if you have a long pair of small needle nose pliers, you can pull it out

Thank you both for your responses

One question 30 Year tech, this cartridge is called "fresh start" and is supplied by Briggs and Straton, it is a concentrated fuel meant to ensure quick starts over time.
With this cartridge in the tank will it effect the fuel, is there a danger with it mixing with the fuel in the tank because its concentrated ?

The fuel stabilizer is not concentrated fuel, but a light weight petroleum product that floats to the top of the fuel and creates a molecular seal that helps slows down fuel degradation.
