McRooster 09-01-2008, 03:51 PM I don't collect PLASTIC cars.
edseldave 09-01-2008, 05:37 PM Only the clear ones are plastic , the reg cars are diecast body & chassis .

Yep, these are diecast body and base...most detailed solid diecast I've seen since JL's PM days.
robertwadehall 09-02-2008, 01:46 PM They look awfully nice..I haven't bought any yet..didn't want to add yet another line to obsess over (I collect JL, GL, Siku, Tomica and some Matchbox and Hot Wheels), but may have to get a few.. :)
Dragnet_Supporter 09-02-2008, 03:30 PM With the lack of JL product, you might say I looked at M2 as filler material. I'd heard some good things about them from several people, and unless you want to strictly buy corvettes, there isn't a large variety of GL in stores around here. I purchased a couple of M2's and the quality sent me immediately to order a few of the earlier ones that struck me as nice that Russ had restocked at milezone's.
I haven't bought any of those clear plastic ones...not my cup of tea. But the diecast is exceptional. They come mounted on a plastic display base with two tiny screws, much like the 100% HWs, but with opening hoods...

This is the first time I've felt I've gotten my $4.99 worth in a long time from a diecast company.

harristotle 09-02-2008, 05:02 PM The 50's are really not a focus for my collection as I collect mostly Mustangs and 60's/70's era Ford muscle, but I would love to get a hold of one of the blue and silver 57 Fairlane or the bright blue 53 Crestline. The only place I've seen those 2 is epay. I saw the M2's for the first time in person the other day at Wally's and I am impressed. They are great little cars.
eyecandy 09-02-2008, 06:05 PM These are excellently done, just not my cup of meat.
Garagekeeper164 09-02-2008, 06:12 PM I'm trying to limit my collecting to HWs but, wow, those are nice.

From what I've read in another thread, it seems like they may be planning to get into some of those areas you mentioned in the future
BIGLOU75 09-02-2008, 08:12 PM The detail on these look amazing, especially for 1/64 scale. I had no choice but to pick up the clear ones in the first wave because I couldn't find the regular ones anywhere. This time, I'm getting them, one way or another!

The first wave is available from various online sources... I have no interest in the clear or custom ones, but will probably pick up a few of the 1st, 3rd, and 4th wave models.
harristotle 09-02-2008, 10:58 PM I want one each from the 3rd and 4th waves. Does anybody know a good online place that has both runs in stock at a reasonable price?

I've seen them at Milezone (www.milezone.com) and Evers Toy Store (www.everstoystore.com).

Not sure if it was mentioned in a post here, but over at Swifty's Garage, it's stated they will be doing muscle cars later this year. Check out sean72's posts, here and at the garage, for futher info. He works for M2, is interested in commentary, and checks the boards pretty frequently

Interesting..well, if they do muscle cars, hopefully they will be creative in their selections and not do the same subjects that have been done over and over and over again by JL, GL, HW, etc..

Thanks much for the info ... I'll check it out ..
I realize Sean is not going to let the cat out of the bag to soon . I actually would rather be surprised when finding out what's included on " the next release" instead of knowing what's coming months from now..
I have been pleasantly surprised with the recent releases for sure......

Just curious, what is your cup of meat? T-bone, porter house, lamb chop, New York? I could go on and on.
But seriously, what do you collect?
Sean

This has been coverd.
Thanks guys, Sean

Sean, I am really curious, and since your on the board why not ask. Will M2 be going into the 60's? I collect mostly Ford muscle, but would love to see a broader spectrum of cars from this era. Thanks!

Harristotle, more information will be out soon. The rumors are all over the place about us branching out into other areas. Don't worry, we are taking care of the blue oval crowd.
Thanks, Sean

I have gotten all these so far except the plastic bodied ones...just as everyone else already stated, not my thing. I would like to see M2 branch out into the 60's as well but do as they have done with the 50's.....not the same old thing everyone else has done. Almost all the musclecars have been done by now and there are plenty of cars from the 60's we'd all like to see other than muscle cars. How about Dodge Polaras from the 65-69 era, or a 66 Chevy Caprice, 69 Mercury Marquis, 64 Pontiac Bonneville, 65 Buick Wildcat just to name a few.
Major Nelson 09-07-2008, 01:09 AM Grabbed a few of these (Series 1 I believe) when I was in the US a couple weeks ago. When I looked at them more carefully back at home, I wondered... Why didn't I buy them all? The cars look awesome, and the details are amazing. Since then, I've been trying to trade for them. I now have the rest of series one coming. But I was wondering, and maybe sean72 might answer this. Will these ever make it to Canada? And if anyone has some to trade, please PM me...

Wow, you have all the Auto-Thentics so far and they are not even your thing. That's awesome. Believe me, I love the big full size cars from the early 1960's as well. Large cars with big motors, bucket seats and style. Don't worry we'll get there.
And as far as doing the same old thing everyone else has done. We will do it the M2 way. I said in another post, will we make cars that have never been done before, Yes. Will we make cars that have been done before, Yes.
Here's an example, in 1977 when Star Wars came out I was 6 years old. I collected the figures from the beginning. These figures were awesome in 1977. Now at age 37 I have so many more new figures now, because they are so much better than the old ones. Just when I think enough is enough, they come out with something cool and I got to have it.

Major Nelson, Glad you liked them. Yes, we are working on the Canadian market right now and hope to be there in early 2009.
Thanks,
Sean

Guess I should elaborate, though I tend to collect 55-70's American cars and some of the M2's are from earlier years, I just found them to be so well done, I had to add them to my Collection. The 54 Mercury in sea green is close to a car my father had when I was just 4 years old, in 1962 though ours was not a Sun Valley, but a Monterey Coupe in the same green. The clear bodied versions of these cars aren't my thing at all. Keep the others coming and I'll keep purchasing them.
harristotle 09-19-2008, 10:41 PM I just got my first M2's in the mail today, the Ford Crestliner Victoria and the Ford Fairlane, both blue (sorry no pics yet). I am absolutely impressed with them. Amazing detail! I really hope they plan to branch out into other years though.
I also have to say a thanks to robertwadehall who recommended Evers Toy Store. They were a true pleasure to do business with
