Small Block Nationals Oct 18

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Master Hobbies & Putnam Propulsion Present the 1at Annual
Small Block Nationals

Sat Oct 18, 2008
With no driver restrictions this should be an outdoor, oval shoot-out with the best of the best going head to toe.

The Master Hobbies banked oval has been the site of three of the best WDRA races this summer, and the action promises to keep going into the early fall with this event.

This Special Event will feature several uniquenesses:
2 Lap Time Trail Seeding into your heat
3 Rounds of IFMAR Heats, re-sorted after round two.
Tech after each run; no "hot" motors to make the show then get legal
Mains run by laps
Two flights of mains: The top 1/3 to the A-Flight, the balance to the B-Flight
A-Flight mains will have bump-ups
B-Fights do not have bump-ups
Two B-Flight mains will be run between each A-Flight main for bump-up prep time

Cash prizes to each and every Main Winner.

Trophies

More Details to follow, but save the date NOW!

See Ya ..................... At The Track

Sam and others; please provide me with feedback on what you guys where running in BB this year, as it seemed to be compatible with NiMH.

Thanks and

See Ya.............. At The Track:thumbsup:

the general idea seems to be that lipo packs are not as good as new NiMH packs but stay good for the entire life of the battery, rather than get three or four good runs then have packs with a little less power every time we use them. lipo packs look like they are better when compared to three months old.

I Understand the whole theory

Specs...I need to know how to Specify what can be used.

Kirt,

If you are going to consider Lipo, here's some suggestions:

-hard case only
-2 cell / 7.4 volt
-Max volts (to be checked prerace @ at tech) 8.44 volts
-Max temp (to be checked prerace @ at tech) 110*

Call me when you have a few re: the above and this weekend-

Kirt i know chris ran a tekin 3400 23c.And i ran a orion 3600 25c.not sure what sam ran think it was a asc 4700.my pack peeked every time at 8.40 volts, temp was 85 degrees at full charge.after the main it was 95 degrees.i would limit it to a 5000 pack.the more MH the more it costs.

WOW - I can't believe that I heard that some guys don't want to come to the Smallblock Nationals because they think they cannot win.

Well pack up your stuff and mark off the calendar because we've got sponsor prizes and cash that will be given out to EVERY main winner. Win the F'in Main and you bring home the bacon. Can't spill all the details yet - but wouldn't it be cool if the better sponsor prizes go to the lower Mains?

I am new to dirt oval and this may be my first race.

Have you guys decided on whether LiPOs will be legal? Hopefully, yes.

Also, what tires would you recommend.

Thanks,
Pat

Winning has nothing to do with this race. It's having a chance to race the best of the best in your own class. You get to see how you stack up. It's a chance of a life time, and you don't have to drive to N.C. to do that. I'm getting guys that have not even run dirt oval this year to show up. Who ever is on the fence, get off and show up!

The prizes will get even better! Depending on Car Counts - we plan to have cash prizes for EVERY main winner

All Cars in the A-main will also get nice cash prizes.

BEST OF ALL - Putnam Propulsion has agreed to put up a bounty for multiple top finishing cars running Putnam Pro-Cars. Thanks Todd!

The challenge has gone out and several car manufacturers have indicated they may follow.

Been getting questions about both.

Regarding the track, those that have raced there before are familiar with the blacktop infield which has been used to a racers advantage in the past to cut the track short. By the time this event goes off there will be road rail, or its equivalent running from the center drain to a foot in from the apex, ending with a dot. Then in each corner there will be "spokes of RTV built up about 1/2" wide and 3/8" high (rumble strips) that will slow you down and upset the car. Problem addressed.

Payout
To further address the attitude "if I can't win the A Main why should I come!" Let me tell you. The payoff structure is such that after you are seeded into your main you will be racing with 5 to 7 other drivers that are within a lap of each other and when you win that race, you'll make more than your entry and have the best time of the year. Plus there will be all kinds of contingency prizes thanks to all the fantastic sponsors!

Based on at least 100 entries, here is the anticipated payout:

Well, it is just 30 short days until the Smallblock Nationals and I have several more sponsors to announce.

CustomWorks: Just heard from Rob and he let me know that CustomWorks has joined in with a sponsorship program for the Smallblock Nats. Hopefully I'll have more details soon. Their cool new flash animation says that they drive in winners circles - Check it out at www.customworksrc.com

Lefthander RC - One of the premier web sites with a store stocked with RC Parts for the dirt oval racer, will be sending us some great race prizes. IF you need some stuff before the race check out their site at http://www.lefthander-rc.com/

WindTunnel: I am also excited to let you know that WindTunnel has signed up to send us some race prizes. So if you need Bodies, Tires, RC Lube and precision parts like their great springs, look them up at http://www.windtunnelracingproducts.com/

And finally, the largest retail and wholesale distributor of radio-control hobby products in the world, Hobbico - Great Planes, let us know that someone will go home with a great Team Checkpoint charger.
Check out their great Fall Rebate at:
http://downloads.hobbico.com/rebates/3058921-form-fall-rebate.pdf

And here's a news flash - yesterday we ran a warm-up club race at Masters where several smallblockers ran against big top big blockers with smallblock motors. Judging from the lap times - all I can say is that the Big-blockers may be in for a surprise. This is going to be one close shootout and we may very well see a few smallblock drivers in top mains!

Early Bird Signups coming in the next few days...
