Had a short period of down time guys. My pute lost all it's marbles and some rolled under the couch where I couldnt get them.

A hard drive crashola in the neighborhood of 7.2 .

Siffting through the ashes as I type. We're back up and running...albeit it slowly.

I apologize for any late responses, lost Email, Pm's, or ommissions on my end.
Will start weeding through my mailboxes late this weekend, and attempt to catch up on correspondence.

Call off the dogs and dowse the fire.

Apologies are not needed, Bill.
We are just happy that it was only equipment malfunction and nothing very serious.
Glad you are back!

ditto JoeZ. Do you have a pancake "monkey motion" hard drive, or is it inline? LOL Maybe it just needs new brushes......

If you store alot of info in your "my Documents" an have 2 hard drives in your pc, here is one way to save them on a second drive that is less used then the OS drive, right click on "My Documents" an select properties, then on that you will see a "Target Folder Location" select move. Browse to your second hard drive an select it an hit "OK" it will move your "My Documents" folder to that second drive that is less used, It may take a bit to move it all but it is WORTH moving. If your pc main drive crashes or goes bad, all your documents are saved on the second drive

Smoke signals - don't you know the wind is blowing southeast?

Went to back up: I pulled on my emergency tin can and the string went slack. You need to re-tie your end? Gotta maintain the infrastructure, man!

Maybe a furr ball?

With a huge fat squirrel-like cat, furr ball is an understatement, furr coat is more like it.
Bills cat could feed half Ethiopia. lmao

What you need for home use is an automatic backup solution that saves the base image and incremental changes to an external USB, Firewire, or network drive. On the PC side one of the best backup solutions for home users is Acronis True Image. On the Mac, nothing beats Time Machine, which an amazing piece of work. Anything that requires the user to initiate the backups is going to be less reliable than an automatic backup solution. With 500 GB external drives less than $120 backing up has never been easier or cheaper.
