don't know why, but I just like this little thing... just found the Matchbox Smart car Cabrio
Really wanted to buy one in real life, but has alot against it...went to look... only one dealer here, for a 3 state area... you have to put down 99 bucks and then wait for over a year to get it. starts at about 11 or 12 grand, but you don't get much...no air, no radio...you have to make an appointment just for a test drive...the convertible, cabrio, like the Matchbox model, with all the options shoots up to about 16 grand. does get 40 to 45 MPG

seems like, for now, it's just a toy for rich people

I like the MB Smart too. My sister put her deposit down for one. Now she has here year to wait. Not great mileage considering how small it is. They are supposed to drive pretty nice.

also thought it waa cute that if you really cant wait, you can put your name on the "orphan list" ..for people that ordered, then backed out..you have the opportunity to claim thier car as soon as it comes in. Guessing that doesn't happen very often tho.

The MB one is great!!!

Thats not too bad of a cost, but I would have expected better fuel mileage.

i have seen a LOT of those in North Carolina, there are 72 dealerships in the US. I agree though, a year wait for a car with no options is almost too long for only 40-45 mpg. I looked at them online and decided they wouldnt make much of a family car

I looked at them, but you can get a used 88-91 Civic 5psd and get a bit less mileage for much cheaper. My fathers lasted 325k ish on the original clutch, timing belt and engine. Now that it is rebuilt gets 38 mpg hwy and creeping towards 400k. Total in the car 6000 brand new, 1500 in engine rebuild and clutch, 1000 in misc repairs. Totals out to .3 cents per mile. Not too bad IMO.
