I've got front end balls that are made of some sort of steel instead of the normal plastic ones. I've got Losi nitride King pins. My king pins slide through the balls like butter. But they stick in the plastic steering arms and the 1/8 axles. I have tried to wet sand the king pins but have had no luck. Is there a solution that would free up the steering blocks and the axles to be as free as the balls in the A-arms??? Like do thet make a ream that is just a hair bigger then the king pin??? Your thoughts would be appreciated....

Mc master&Carr makes all kind of pin reamers . I use the ksg balls and losi pins and the frt ends have never ever been so smooth. My frt ends are like butter now best combination ever

A regular metric size drill bit will work, too. Get one that is slightly larger than the 1/8 inch size. Where ever the metal kingpins slide thru the plastic blocks A arms, suspensions etc rim them out for smoothness and reduce binding. Be sure to drill as straight as possible.

Are you trying to get the steering block to "float" up and down on the kingpin?

Lucky, There's really no reason the Kingpin needs to move freely in the steering block. Except when installing and removing the kingpin. During race conditions the steering block is side loaded and forces the kingpin to rotate as the servo moves. WWW.mcmaster.com does sell a .126 diameter ream, cheap and works great, but the kingpin doesn't need to slide as freely, as it does in the lower pivot ball. Just like the top pivot ball, the kingpin doesn't need to slide freely thru that either except for installing and removing.

so if I'm understanding one of the recent reponses, I actually want the steering block to fit snug because it helps turns the king pin. Is that correct?

Yes, and some 1/8" axles have a set screw to lock the axle to the king pin, the ksg with the machined block, comes with a set screw.

I have had associated steering blocks drilled off of center a little, so the king pin would go through one side of the steering block, but not all the way through. I just got some properly drilled.
It sounds like yours are working like they are supposed to though. (Like others said) You want to lock down the kingpin in the steering block. It shouldn't move at all.
