View Full Version : 1976 Trans am Casting??????????
bluehemi818 08-25-2008, 04:29 PM Did I read this right? Greenlight is going to do a casting for the 74-76 Firebird T/A's?????? Please tell me its not just a rumor!!! I have waited for this casting for a long time. I also saw that Greenlight will be putting out a few more police cars as well. Greenlight, if you are listening, nice job!

That would be nice...Formulas as well, hopefully. The rear window changed for '75, so I could see them doing separate front and rear fascias so they could do the '75 and '76, and eventually '77-78, and '79-81.
DCPDGUY 08-25-2008, 05:40 PM GL showed some mock ups. So not a rumor.
Pewter02WS6 08-25-2008, 06:15 PM i've waited for this casting for a very long time as well!! greenlight is getting the job done and i can't wait to get one of these castings in my hands.
rattlehed 08-25-2008, 08:49 PM When the Under The Hood club was brought to life last year, there were a few threads over the first couple of months concerning castings we would like to see. Everyone it seemed, wanted GL to do trucks. Well now trucks are in the works. I suggested a 69GTX, that is my ID there and a 1:1 I used to own(shamefully gone and greatly missed). I knew the Roadrunner was already coming and it seemed like a natural progression. I also suggested a 1976 T/A, my long time friend still owns one and it is a BLAST to drive! (455 4-spd) and one of the nicest looking cars ever IMHO.(all this from one of those mopar guys) There was good response from fellow members on both cars and now they are coming to a store near you! The GS also got good reviews from club members and it's on the way. Bracket type drag cars were a good suggestion and here comes street and strip MCG.(are you noticing a trend?) GL IS LISTENING to the wisdom of it's own customers! Like the GTX, the 76 T/A was never done proper justice in our little world.
To sum it up, you are welcome!:p:wave:
(Ladies and gentlemen keep your applause to a minimum!)
bluehemi818 08-25-2008, 09:52 PM I too am a mopar guy, and I also believe the 76 trans am is one of the finest looking vehicles ever made......followed by the 77-78, then the 70-73, then the 79-81, then the 98-02, then the 82-92, then the 93-97, then the 74-75(didnt like the rubber bumpies front and rear those years...very ugly). All other cars follow.
bluehemi818 08-25-2008, 09:56 PM are there any pictures floating around of the mock-ups?
DCPDGUY 08-25-2008, 10:12 PM Yes, over at the UTHC.

jimhowie2000 08-26-2008, 10:09 PM Too bad the Marauder they chose to do wasn't the 69-70 version.
tamiyatim 09-12-2008, 04:10 PM I wish they'd do a '70-74 trans am, painted up like the one from Cannonball....
i LOV to see GL do a 76 T/A!!!! i had a 76 yellow t-top t/a way back,but still miss that car!
superduty455 09-13-2008, 06:22 PM My very first Trans Am was a '76 in starlight black sans decals. Special ordered that way. I really look forward to seeing some mock ups and the final finished product.
Go Greenlight!

wannafbody 09-21-2008, 10:04 PM See if you can find the Hot Wheels Hotbird Modern Muscle Firebird at Wal Mart. Pretty sharp looking.
WarbirdTA 10-03-2008, 02:40 PM I vote for the 1974 Trans Am.
That year had some good engines, like the 455SD.
I have two 1:1 1974 Trans Ams, both the regular version 455 engine.
So, I would buy quite a few of them, if they produce them.
My take,
George
