View Full Version : Jacksons Kong skeleton screen grab? Roland 08-24-2008, 09:52 PM Hey, Looking for that scene where Kong takes Naomi Watts to his cave and then they see all the skeletons of the other giant Apes. Did a Google search but can't find it anywhere. Help!! Why not play the DVD on your computer, stop it at the point of interest, and do a screen grab there? Do a "print screen" and paste it into a graphics program like Power Point or Paint. Jaruemalak 08-24-2008, 09:58 PM Good idea. The VLC Media Player (a free program for the PC, no idea about the Mac) will play any DVD and has an excellent screen snapshot capability, built right in. F91 08-24-2008, 11:19 PM I appreciate the suggestion, thanks for the idea! Jim NCC1701A 08-24-2008, 11:49 PM Good idea. The VLC Media Player (a free program for the PC, no idea about the Mac) will play any DVD and has an excellent screen snapshot capability, built right in. Yup, is available for the Mac as well... http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html F91 08-26-2008, 12:03 AM Ok as per you guys advice, I downloaded the VLC player and it does have an easy screen capture feature. The problem is: Where does the saved file go? Help!? Doh!!! Never mind, pretty intuitive program, it saved it in pictures! Go figure! Roguepink 08-29-2008, 11:42 PM Well....? POST IT, ALREADY! F91 08-29-2008, 11:49 PM Uh.... part of the reason I asked in the forum is that I DON'T OWN THE MOVIE. I do have some nice screen grabs from an animated Batman movie if anyone is interested. F91 08-30-2008, 07:30 PM Well, that was easy.... http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn316/SuperF91/vlcsnap-2040758.png frankenstyrene 08-30-2008, 11:00 PM A fleshless skeleton, all intact, defying gravity by sitting upright? Riiight. If someone made a kit of it, no one would possibly buy it, it's so unrealistic and absurd. Psheesh. mcdougall 08-31-2008, 12:04 AM You know come to think of it...every kit I've ever built has been unrealistic and absurd :p Where as Naomi Watts on King Kongs' shoulder....now there's a Model:thumbsup: Mcdee PS ...I'd also buy that Kong Skeleton too... F91 08-31-2008, 01:34 AM The whole reason I wanted the screen grab is because I have the Neanderthal Man skeleton and it sure looks like an easy conversion to a gorilla. Not sure if I will do it, but it wouldn't be hard. After thinking about how "absurd" a giant gorilla skeleton diorama would be, I've decided to do it. Sue me. F91 08-31-2008, 01:35 AM That is the first skeleton you see. Jackson has it upright and intact so the audience can TELL WHAT IT IS. As Kong rounds the corner, there are several other skeletons scattered all around in various parts, perhaps to please the people anal enough to pick apart a movie about a 40 foot tall gorilla and Dinosaurs. Jeez. Back on ignore. Edit- if there were a resin kit available, I'd buy it. A fleshless skeleton, all intact, defying gravity by sitting upright? Riiight. If someone made a kit of it, no one would possibly buy it, it's so unrealistic and absurd. Psheesh. http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn316/SuperF91/vlcsnap-2041358-Copy.png Jaruemalak 08-31-2008, 09:36 AM Suspension of disbelief is a funny thing. I can accept a movie about a 40 foot tall gorilla with dinosaurs, because I know it isn't trying to be a documentary. It's a fantasy... however, I can only stretch that suspension of disbelief so far. A skeleton sitting up? I don't really have a problem with that... now many times in horror movies have we seen skeletons sitting, hanging, whatever, completely together when in reality it wouldn't happen? That said, I had a LOT of trouble with Kong and two or three T-Rex swinging back and forth on vines, tumbling down the canyon. And don't even get me started on Kong taking Ann Darrow ice skating in Central Park. frankenstyrene 08-31-2008, 05:08 PM I hoped someone here would get my poor attempt at a sly, wry joke...a bare-boned skeleton, upright, defying gravity, not fallen to pieces, then made into a monstrous kit...never seen one before? Anyone? Anyone? Helloooo? How 'bout this: a kit of the GHOST of the ape whose SKELETON is sitting UPRIGHT in a cave AGAINST THE WALL. Absurd idea, right? No one would ever make it or buy it, right? Does that help? psheesh! EDIT: the cromagnon skeleton = Kong skeleton IS a good idea. frankenstyrene 08-31-2008, 05:14 PM BTW - I'd forgot this gorilla graveyard shot. Are these Kong's fellow apes that died of old age or dino wounds? Or did they all fight to the last ape, and Kong ate them? (I know, Jackson doesn't say). Ohio_Southpaw 08-31-2008, 05:42 PM BTW - I'd forgot this gorilla graveyard shot. Are these Kong's fellow apes that died of old age or dino wounds? Or did they all fight to the last ape, and Kong ate them? (I know, Jackson doesn't say). I caught the reference to the Forgotten Prisoner, but hey.... I forget to post about him (which is probably why he is forgotten!). To me the Ape skeletons tell me that they have slowly been dying out, whether through old age or injury and that Kong is the last one, and obviously very lonely which is why he took a shining to the hot chick, as any guy would. frankenstyrene 08-31-2008, 06:54 PM I caught the reference to the Forgotten Prisoner, but hey.... I forget to post about him (which is probably why he is forgotten!). Well thank you anyway...don't forget to try the veal. And tip your waitress! F91 08-31-2008, 06:55 PM The boneyard is indeed there to show the decline of the giant apes. The fact that there is an almost intact one probably signifies that it was one of Kongs parents. It's called storytelling and I thought it was a fairly poignant scene in the movie. frankenstyrene 08-31-2008, 07:01 PM I thought it was a fairly poignant scene in the movie. So did I. Without it no one would have sympathized with KK nearly as much - he has a past now, '33 didn't really. I was shocked at the first shot of them that I noticed, where he's walking by and a huge skull appears in the foreground. I never noticed the one sitting upright; your grab is totally unfamiliar from the 2 times I've seen it. mcdougall 08-31-2008, 07:47 PM I'm surprised no one has come out with a New King Kong Model in styrene...that shot with Kong regarding the Skeleton and Ann Darrow on his shoulder would be a super kit:thumbsup: Mcdee Auroranut 08-31-2008, 08:25 PM The whole reason I wanted the screen grab is because I have the Neanderthal Man skeleton and it sure looks like an easy conversion to a gorilla. That's a cool idea!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Chris.:) John P 09-01-2008, 09:17 AM That said, I had a LOT of trouble with Kong and two or three T-Rex swinging back and forth on vines, tumbling down the canyon. I also thought that was utterly assinine. And don't even get me started on Kong taking Ann Darrow ice skating in Central Park. On the other hand, I thought that was really sweet. Though I thought it was kinda stupid to have the Army open up with artillery in the heart of the city. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
