I'm just getting into pan cars. What is the best setup for gears on an asphalt track, 260' with slight bank for a 17.5/4cell. I'm still learning all this and this is my first time out with a pan car.

Is it a FOAM track or a Capped Tire track?

Any idea if the 'quick' lap times on the track, w/ a 17.5/4 cell?

my guess to run about 27 mph would be around a 76/52 w/ 2.2" foam tires (aiming for about 6.2 second lap times)
my guess to aim for about 30 mph would be around a 76/58 w/ 2.2" foam tires (aiming for about a 5.9 second lap)

So you'd probably want to get the PRS Big Pinions (from 50t - 60t or maybe even 62t) and their small spurs (76t I believe is currently their smallest), these are all in the 64 pitch.

The 17.5 motor is rated at 2,200 RPM Per Volt (Unloaded) so you'd be expecting around 10,500 rpm with no load on the motor..and loaded it will probably drop about 40% or more...so it will only be turning around 6000-6500 rpm.

88/57 with cap tires

76/56 with 2.2 foams

good starting point but every track is diferent with how much corner speed you will carry but this will get you close.

Thanks. Forgot it is a foam tire track, will run a 2.2 tire. I have plenty of gears just was looking for a place to start.
