what do you guy's feel that the mah limit will be on lipo in oval racing?? and what is the biggest difference between a 3200, 3600 and 5000 other than run time?? is 3200,3600 going to be the norm for most tracks or is 5000 maybe.. I'm new to lipo will be running lipo soon and just want to get a little info from guys that are curently running lipo and what you may have experence.

WE run 3200, but will probably increase to 3400 in '09 (not sure yet, we've still got 5 months of the '08 season left)

I haven't tested any BIG sticks that are only 2s1p, but a 2s2p (4 cell ) pack drops a whole lot LESS voltage under load, on a VELODROME using a 3200 2s1p vs a 4800 2s2p w/ SAME gearing, SAME motor - the BIG STICK went close to 2 more laps, and ran FASTER times. (This was LIPO 10.5) and driven by a MODIFIED Class driver with a VERY Good Setup (And at that time - the record holder)

Jon,

What class will you be running? (That may/may not make a difference too) 21.5/LIPO for instance is only using 1300 - 1500 mAh normally for 5 minute racing. (depending on track/size/type) the velo only used 1530 for my runs a couple weeks ago - and that's running 10.5's(Lap Times) on a 820 ft. track.

Joe,

Well I know we are going to do some lipo testing in sept at the indy velo and I think most guy's are going 17.5 lipo nascar, nastruck and so on but I don't know.. I myself are planning on running nascar and or indy car which is 10.5 4 cell.. What does the 2s1p and 2s2p stand for???

2s1p = 2 cells in SERIES (to create the 7.4volts)

2s1p = number of cells in parallel - to create the total mAh

Example: The Orion 3200 pack is 2 series packs only (so it gets a 1p for paralell)
The Orion 4800 is a 2 series, 2 parallel (the cells are each 2400 mAh, so they do 2 pair of series cells, in parallel to create a 4800 mAh pack)

I haven't/don't pay much attention anymore to the BIG sticks (since we went with the Orion 3200's) so I'm not sure if everyone is doing 2s2p's for the bigger mAh numbers or not.

Racing in Florida is sticking with a 3200 MAX mah for the 21.5 class and I have heard a few other tracks are doing the same in the middle of the USA. This opens it up to a few brands... Our 17.5 class with be Roar max rules they have listed.

I'm sure thats what we are doing out west as well.

OK, but it has to be coupled with at LEAST a 3.5 motor on about a 120 ft CARPET OVAL Track. :) :) :)
....can you say RIPPPPPPP!

Joe, why run a motor with that much wire in it?

....Steenhoven drove Carlton Dutys' car at the LINDSAY track on the first practice day w/ LIPO and 3.5...and I believe was WAY over geared... I'd LOVE to see that thing setup to RUN - WOW!
