The only BL motors Novak manufactures are the motors we sell under the Novak brand.

Hacker, New style Orion and Losi come from the same place.

Trinity is their own design from Fiego (SP?)

LRP is their own design but not sure where made.

Novak has already been answered.

I don't know about Putnam, but I'm pretty sure the Speedpassion, Trinity are Feigao based. Somone correct me if I'm wrong.

Speedpassion is just a middle man and are Feigao based. Putnam, Express, etc are Trinity based (Feigao) with their own tweaks and tunes before selling them.

Yes but when you take it apart it's pretty obvious that its different. But the losi on the other hand is identical to the Hacker inside and out....other than it has a removable sensor harness.

To answer your question.

1 novaks says no but they sure as heck look the same either Novak is selling the parts to Hacker and Hacker is doing there own assembly and winding or it's the other way around.

2 According to Putnam all the same just different colors

3 there own deal

4 once again the entire line of losi brushless stuff looks like a Novak.

I don't know why in this Hobby that companies are so affraid to say "yah we make that for them" OR ""we buy that from them"

so if These companies aren't selling product to eachother than they need to get a lawyer.

Novak is not afraid to admit building OEM motors for other e-resellers, if we did it but we don't. We can't OEM motors to other companies as cheaply as motors built in China. The Hacker motors are direct copies of our original design. The owner of Hacker called Bob and told Bob that they were copying our motor. Horizon is also a direct copy, which they admitted----possibly sourced from Hacker.

Most of the clones are built in China. Building motors in China is much cheaper than building them here in Irvine. I think it's amusing when companies have their motors made by Feigao, but claim that their motors are, somehow, much better than the other guys motors, also built by Feigao. The Power of Marketing.

10-4 thanks for clearing that up.

lol yes the power of marketing lol like a few years back when SMC was matching packs for several other people. the best had to be Team Brood one of there drivers was on rctech ranting and raveing that the Brood battery was the best on the market far superior than the others specially zapped. then a few months later the owner was on there saying that he was out of cells till His matcher (smc) got more in lol

Feigao in Brushless is like yokomo/epic is in brushed motors. There is no doubt that Feigao developed a motor that looked like Novaks because of how the rules were written for ROAR approved motors.

NovakTwo has it nailed down. "I think it's amusing when companies have their motors made by Feigao, but claim that their motors are, somehow, much better than the other guys motors, also built by Feigao. The Power of Marketing."

BL motors are nothing new. If you can't patent it you can't protect it.

BL motors are nothing new. If you can't patent it you can't protect it.

There probably are parts of our sensored motor that we could have patented, but then you have to be willing (also need really deep pockets) to sue someone.

It would be difficult, if not impossible, to bring any legal action against a Chinese manufacturer. Much of the Asian business philosophy includes knocking off whatever is popular, "It's only business." Ethics and respect for intellectual property doesn't show up on their radar.

In addition, suing our 2nd largest US distributor would probably destroy our company, which is actually quite small. In 30 years of Novak's existence, our customers (distributors) have not chosen to copy our most popular products. I always believed it was because they wanted to let us continue in business so we could continue designing cool, innovative items. But, I guess those days are over. "It's only business,"

Who knows better, than a distributor, what items sell well----those are the products to clone for their own profit. We are not the only company, whose popular products they are knocking off. Pretty sad.

I have a HACKER, NOVAK and Feigao based FANTOM motor. Have run all three on the track and have had similar results with all three. The FANTOM did have more pull out of the corner and down the straights but NOVAKS were just as fast at yesterdays event.

I have the new Tekin, Trinity, LRP and of course Novak 10.5s. Very impressive how each is unique in construction, yet very similiar in inductance and rotor measurements.
