My 8yr old son was gifted this (discontinued) plane, it looks to be in great shape with no damage at all. However after the battery is charged and the rcvr is turned on it doesn't seem to be sending any signal from the rcvr to the plane???? is there a on switch that we may have missed or do you think something is burned out? When you connect the batt it does make the props turn for a brief second as it is being connected. I know little about RC planes or the basics of servos and trouble shooting. thanks for any suggestions.

Okay, VERY IMPORTANT: The transmitter (hand-held controller) MUST BE TURNED ON before connecting the battery to the plane. If not done this way, the airplane's receiver will not work properly.
Make sure you have good batteries in the transmitter.
Turn on the transmitter first.
Plug in the flight battery (yes, a brief "glitch" is normal).
If you do not get a good control signal at this point, check the following:
Make sure the channel on the plane matches the channel on the transmitter.
