Hey just looking for some pointers on the best way to get my new crawler going. i have a bender customs chassis with shocks from a savage and need to so something with the upper linkage of the fourlink. i was looking at the axial fourlink set up and was wondering if anyone has tryed this before or has any pointers!

What axles are you running? And you should look into making your own links.

they're TLTs i got some mounting plates on the way and was just wondering if anyone has tryed the axial links, they look like they might work.

I use 6-32 theaded rod and Traxxas ends. Cut auto break line to the right length to go between the links. You can cut and size the rod before adding the break line, and even bend it for clearance after.

I can tell you Savage shocks are way to long. You are going to need something in the 4" long range. Those shocks will make the truck to tall. is it an SW3 or the older SW2 chassis? Making your own links is pretty much a must. You may find something close. But most times you have to take parts from many different sources to build what you need. For the most part crawlers are built and not bought. Unless you go with the Axial platform. What style axles do you have?

well i still have the original shocks off it so if all else fails i can put those back on, but i set it next to my friends axial and its a little shorter and longer so i think should be ok. i figured i'll have to make lots of the stuff on my own i was just feeling lazy and looking for an easy way out. oh and its the SW3 chassis with TLT axels.

One thing to note on the axial links. They are hollow all the way thru. So you can cut them to the desired length. Then retap with an M3 tap. Screw the factory threaded insert (setscrew) back in and then screw the rod end back on. You can get an M3 tap at most hobbytowns. Just make sure to use some lube on the tap so you don't break it. These Axial links can be found on Ebay pretty cheap.

But if you have an SW3 it can be much easier than all that. Go to RCCrawler.com and send a PM to "Bender". This is Brad the guy that made the SW3. He can tell you the exact link lengths you will need. And actually if you do some searching you may find the answers. He did some pretty decent buildup threads on his chassis.
