Still interested in getting this kit if anyone is interested
in parting with it. Will pay good price! Also looking for
Spindrift crew set also by LM.
fortress:dude:
Excuse me for jumping in here fortress, if you know of someone who needs the LM Spindrift itself, I have one for sell.
fortress 06-30-2009, 03:02 PM No Problem, I had no idea how hard it would be
getting the interior kit for this model would be
but I will keep trying.
Soooooo if anyone out there has one I AM WILLING
TO DO BUISNESS.

flyingfrets 06-30-2009, 06:29 PM Hi fortress,
Just wondering...have you actually ever seen the LM spindrift interior kit in person?
The one I had was beyond BAD. Greasy orange resin that leached some kind of residue that prevented paint from adhering, incomplete castings, pinholes, deformed parts...I mean incredibly bad.
I sold the whole kit & kaboodle to fluke quite a few years ago. He built it into a real head turner, but IIRC he said he scratchbuilt over 95% of the interior becuse the LM parts were unusable. You might want to see if he's got any tips on going the scratch route to begin with.
Just a reminder of the old addage, "be careful what you wish for..."
Seaview 06-30-2009, 11:18 PM Then I guess the interior kit that I got was a GOOD one; after a good washing, I had nice clean, crisp parts & minimal sanding.
My biggest complaint was the hatch control panel wall inside the airlock, which because of the width of the hallway floor & ceiling provided, blocked a full third of the hatch opening, so I wasn't able to display my 3rd Spindrift build-up with an opened hatch as I planned.
However, the passenger compartment visible through the side windows, and the cockpit visible through the viewport, I have to admit really compliment the Lunar Spindrift.
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that within the next few years, Frank & Dave and the rest of the wizards at Moebius change their minds and actually make a large scale Spindrift available. :beatdeadhorse:
You have to admit, both the Spindrift and the Proteus are NATURALS to have miniatures of, because the "originals" are supposed to be small to begin with! ;)
flyingfrets 07-01-2009, 12:33 AM I know Lunar's casting got significantly better over the years. The final Jupiter 2 & interior kits I got from them were really hard to tell apart from styrene kit parts.
As far as I was aware, most of the Spindrift interiors were made before Mike (Evans) upgraded to centrifigal casting. That old orange resin was pretty foul stuff too & didn't help matters any.
Guess it's luck of the draw at this point...
Seaview, I'll second that motion on a Moebius Spindrift...but we'd better be quiet before they ban us!
Best wishes on your quest fortress.

beatlepaul 04-20-2010, 03:07 PM I got Parts for the Spindrift interior from Randy before Lunar went belly up.
I have to say the parts were well made and crisp, very nicely done, thank you very much!
In fact they/the Spindrift is still in my possession(check my avatar)
I actually plan on re-doing my Model(that is if Moebius dosen't make one),Re Painting it etc....
charonjr 04-20-2010, 10:07 PM My biggest complaint was the hatch control panel wall inside the airlock, which because of the width of the hallway floor & ceiling provided, blocked a full third of the hatch opening, so I wasn't able to display my 3rd Spindrift build-up with an opened hatch as I planned.
Yes, the LM Spindrift is based on the hero model, not the full scale set. For that, a strip of styrene has to be added to the back end of the top piece and each window moved back by about a 1/4 to 1/3". This allows the door to slide fully open without running into the passenger window and allows the control panel to be properly installed.
Seaview 04-22-2010, 05:29 PM Thanks for the tip! Luckily for me, I still have an unbuilt LM Spindrift that I bought from eBabe last year (missing the grill work and dome), so I have another chance at getting it right using your method!
Thanks much, Charonjr!

charonjr 10-17-2010, 07:17 AM Hi Fortress, can't promise anything at this moment, because I did use parts of the one I had bought 20 years ago. Some parts I handmade and didn't use what was provided. I'll find out what I have and make a list for you.
beatlepaul 10-17-2010, 10:02 AM Hey Fortress!
Have you tried posting what you need/want on the Replica Prop Forum?
I think you may have better luck.

Mitchellmania 10-18-2010, 09:54 AM I purchased the LM Exterior and Interior kits from Monsters in Motion back in the early 1990's the interior kit was just a bunch of styrene sheets (that I had to fabricate everything) back then!
I was like "you got to be kidding me!" I sent everything back.
Seaview 10-18-2010, 11:24 AM I don't blame you! That was the first (Mike Evans) version. Randy tooled all new parts for the final incarnation of that kit, although he still sent out the kit with my outdated instruction sheets.

Anyone know where I may find the instruction sheet for the upgraded version
of the Lunar Models LOG Spindrift interior kit?
fortress
Seaview 10-19-2010, 11:53 AM No "upgraded sheets" were ever drawn for this kit.
charonjr 10-20-2010, 05:44 AM Hi, sorry got insanely busy the past two days. As soon as it's light, I'll look in the shed where my kits are stored.
charonjr 10-20-2010, 05:01 PM Hi Fortress, I just checked my boxes of models and I CAN'T FIND the SPINDRIFT!!!!!
Now I'm concerned. There's one other place to check on the other side of town. I'll get back to you.

charonjr 10-27-2010, 06:26 PM Guys, it's gone! I don't know how, but it's not in any of the moving boxes in the shed. I'll keep looking, but I think I've looked everywhere. If I find something, I'll let you know.
scottnkat 11-03-2010, 11:08 PM I think I just saw that geminibuildups has an interior kit for this available in this For Sale forum - may wanna take a look

Thanks for the info scottnkat.. I have checked them out but I did not
see the kit, also the kits they sell are for their build-up service only.
it look like the SPINDRIFT in a large scale is starting to heat up
with interest. Funny when you look at ebay you see J2's trading
all the time but very few LM Spindrift's or Flying Sub's with the
initerior kits...intersteing.
