nutz4rc 08-16-2008, 04:15 PM This week, Larry Moore was appointed Communications Director of Left Turn Raceway.
His responsibilities will include pomoting the track locally and through use of the Internet.
Larry I was there last summer. I took my touring car there last summer. The people there were in ooohhhh. All they ran at the time was mini-t's. Within a couple of laps I broke the t-record. Could not run the body on the car though. Was catching the carpet in the corners. Awesome little bullring track!!!!!! You run your 8th scale on there?
nutz4rc 08-16-2008, 06:22 PM Not the 1/8th this is an 1/18th and 1/12th scale track only. Nothing larger. High banked carpet. I turn laps with my Slider and Late model in the 3.5 to 3.7 range. Summer crowd is down but we had 6 Late models and 5 Sliders last Tuesday night. Small club, low fees, and a lot of fun. In the winter we have a few mini-ts but lots of Sliders and Late Models. Also several open class cars are here in the winter. Very fast with Lipos and brushless.
Brad Boling 08-16-2008, 09:46 PM It's a fun place to race for sure. It reminds me of the old banked upstairs Racestreet. Sliders and Late Models are the two biggest classes.

nutz4rc 08-17-2008, 10:05 AM Brad,
Glad you found the site. There is one on RC Tech in the Track Locator forum as well. I plan on posting race results here and hopefully we will have some special things as well.
DaveW 08-17-2008, 07:31 PM What are the rules for late model?
nutz4rc 08-18-2008, 10:51 AM Losi 1/18th Scale Late Model Rules are:
Motors Losi RX 280 or Losi Insane
Tires Rubber or Foam
Suspension You may change shocks, springs, tie rods
Gears You may change gearing
Chassis Must be Mini-T, Mini-Slider, or Mini-Late Model
Body Any Late Model body
Let me know if you need any additional info.
nutz4rc 08-18-2008, 08:08 PM Regular race program tomorrow (Tuesday) night. Come out and join the fun. Bring your 1/18th Mini-T, Mini-Slider, Mini-Late Model, Vendetta, or anything else this scale.
jt1974 08-19-2008, 10:13 AM Is the track open any other days for practice?
nutz4rc 08-19-2008, 11:16 AM Track is open on Saturday from 9 until 12. I will be there most likely this Saturday and Bob Evans (built track and lives in the house) will open up and be there as well. Come out and check it out. Small crowds in summer but this winter we will average 8 Losi Late Models, 6 Losi Sliders, some rookies, as well as about 4 or so opens.

nutz4rc 08-19-2008, 10:03 PM You have some valid points. However Bob authorized these posts. We had many more racers than that last winter. In fact if the crowd grows, we may go to two nights and split the classes. We can score without a transponder for a new racer by using part of the computer system for manual count while the transponders also count. If someone doesn't want to buy a transponder, after trying the track no loss. If some one makes the effort, we will get them scored, give them the track rules, and let them make the decision about the future.
nutz4rc 08-19-2008, 10:10 PM Summer crowd is still down. School has just started and many are getting kids enrolled.
Tonight's top three:
Sliders
Brad Boling 81 laps
Chuck Reese 76 laps
Tyler Tweedy 75 laps
Late Model
Larry Moore 84 laps
Bob Evans 74 laps
Jorge Malloy 0 laps
Jorge had a bad night with both his Slider and Late Model. This is the fifth week of this six week series and the first place and second place in each class is getting very close in points. Each will be decided next week.
Thanks to Dave Whitesel (Mr. Leading Edge) for stopping by and visiting us for a while. Good to talk with him.
Brad Boling 08-20-2008, 09:23 PM I wouldnt be adverstising the track too much i know the owner doesnt want it to be over busy, plus the scoring system doesnt have transponders for people, you have to buy one at $40.00,and he only lets people loan them like one time, and the scoring system doesnt reconize personal transponders,You need to let people know this info.before they drive an hour or longer and find this out.not to mention this place is very small and in the winter time he can have about 12 to 14 racers because anymore than that and its way to crowded.
Way to promote the track Scott...
nutz4rc 08-21-2008, 09:51 AM Thanks Brad.
Did you see my e-mail about the Custom Works DD Sprint Car. LMK But there is no hurry.
scottman2007 08-21-2008, 06:34 PM t.t.t.t
nutz4rc 08-21-2008, 07:56 PM As I stated previously, we will get them counted even without transponder. That gives them a chance to get a feel for the track and decide for themselves. I have raced tracks with no heat in winter, no food, and no facilities. One in Northern Indiana and one in Western Ohio come to mind. The Ohio trip was two hours. So I understand what you are saying. No one will know unless they try the track out. Nice group of people and we have fun. Track expenses are kept as low as possible. Racing for $5 for first class is a nice cost savings.
scottman2007 08-22-2008, 07:41 AM t.t.t.t.
nutz4rc 08-22-2008, 09:29 AM We are running late models. There are three of the new kits, three converted Sliders (all with new longer LM chassis), and two of the converted mini-ts. They are very fast. I run the stock rubber tires, and the only change I made was to put in a stiff right front spring. We do allow the use of the Losi Insane motor as well as Losi 280. In practice Tuesday night I turned four laps in the 3.45 range. During the race we are turning 3.6 laps when we aren't bouncing off one another (lots of fun). We started 8 late models three weeks ago but some have been on vacation and this Tuesday we started 4. We also had four Sliders.
If all goes well, according to Dale; the oval may be done in time for some practice yet this fall. They have a state championship off road race Sept 13-14 and must have the offroad part in the middle of the oval done for that race. They are trying to get everything done by then. I am going up in the next week to check things out. I have finished a 1/8th scale Hyper 7 electric conversion late model and want to try it on this track. The Losi 1/10th Slider will most likely be a spec class at Summit Dirt Oval. It will probably be run as box stock class. They haven't decided on a battery yet; but Dale is working with several dirt oval racers and finishing the rules. I expect to see Spec Sprint, Open Sprint, Late Model (both 1/10th and 1/8th). All must be electrics as the neighbors won't accept nitro.
This is off topic but just as easy to answer here.
Brad Boling 08-22-2008, 02:03 PM Larry,
I read your e-mail, we can discuss it this Tuesday. I know for sure this winter it will be silders at Muncie and 17.5 pan car. As for what else, it is up in the air.
~Brad
nutz4rc 08-22-2008, 03:57 PM No problem. I wasn't pushing, just wanted to let you know. I am a little in the air as to whether I want to run one or two classes at one or both of the tracks. I think Late Model at Muncie and Legend at FT makes sense. But you do have more time at FT so maybe two there. Time will tell. See you next Tuesday.
nutz4rc 08-22-2008, 03:59 PM Update to Fort Wayne rebuild. The off road will be torn up and the new oval and off road both built-all this weekend. They hope to have both finished by Sunday evening. I will post as soon as I know more.
nutz4rc 08-24-2008, 09:03 AM Next Tuesday is the last week of the 6 week series. Champions will be determined as the top three are very close in points in Slider and Late Model. One week off (fun night) and then a new 6 weeks series begins. Hope to see some more new racers this fall and winter.
nutz4rc 08-26-2008, 09:23 AM Tonight (Tuesday, Aug 26) final night of this 6 week points series. Slider and Late model are very close between top three in each.
Come out for some fun or to check out the track.
yokman 08-26-2008, 09:57 AM today is the 26 larry, had to get ya on that one.......lol
nutz4rc 08-26-2008, 10:40 AM Rightly so, I should learn how to type and double check every post. Duh!
I see Losi is about to release another RTR about the 29th of August. It says the price will be $179.99 same as 1/10th Slider Sprint car. Word on street is that it may be a 1/10th Late Model. That would be sweet especially with FT Wayne having DO next year.
See you, still in my thoughts and prayers.
nutz4rc 08-26-2008, 10:49 PM Another night of really close racing. The six week series champions were all determined tonight.
Slider
Brad Boling
Chuck Reeves
Larry Moore
Late Model
Larry Moore
Jorge Malloy
Bob Evans
Brad put on a great run in Slider leading from start to end.
Nice to have Charles Akers back from his vacation. Crowds should start picking up now that fall is coming.
nutz4rc 08-29-2008, 11:22 AM Remember Left Turn is open for practice Saturday from 9 to 12.
Come out and check out the track. I will be there and Bob as well. Usually some others stop in.
Please give some suggestions for something special for next weeks fun night race. Some ideas have been a pole race. You put a plumbers helper in the middle of straight away and when you run you must go around it each lap.
Also, a change up race. You run left turn and randomly a horn sounds and you then turn and run right turn. Any other ideas would be appreciated. Just something different since no points are involved.
Week after next another six week series will start.
nutz4rc 08-30-2008, 03:15 PM Left Turn Raceway racers want to wish Chuck Reeves a speedy recovery. Chuck had his operation on Tuesday and is recuperating with family in Indy.
Good luck, prayers, and see you soon (we hope).
j21moss 08-31-2008, 07:54 AM is this the Larry Moore I know???????? who has this track???
nutz4rc 08-31-2008, 08:40 AM Yes, it is me Jerry.
Bob Evans built the track a couple of years ago. It is as described a small high banked carpet oval (not ozite). But works well. We run 1/18th scale classes on Tuesday nights. Mini-T (stock & mod), Slider, Mini-Late Model, Vendetta (buggy & truck together), unlimited (brushless & lipo OK). $5 to race and anyone who decides to become a regular needs a $40 Robitronics transponder. At the race fee rate compared to most tracks you pay for the transponder in the first four weeks. Second class is $3. Six week series with medal for top three in each class, one week off (fun week) and then a new series starts. Very quick track, a fast lap in Slider or Late Model is 3.50 seconds. Run rubber or foam tires.
I race here and at Summit in Ft Wayne as well.
Brad Boling 08-31-2008, 12:07 PM It's a lot of fun MossMan. It's the track I was telling you about at the car show... Hopefully Chuck gets well soon.
~Brad
nutz4rc 08-31-2008, 12:16 PM Bob says Chuck is doing pretty well. Personally I think he is too cantankerous to be down long (LOL).
nutz4rc 09-01-2008, 09:26 AM Tuesday night is fun race night, no points; but as always close racing. Come out, have some fun, check out the track.
j21moss 09-01-2008, 09:24 PM well I don't have a slider yet..but maybe a Legend would do!!!
nutz4rc 09-02-2008, 11:20 AM We only run 1/18th scale, Jerry. That includes Sliders, Mini-Late Models, Vendettas, RC 18T,R,B, Mini Ts, etc.
Lots of fun and very fast. In practice Saturday morning I turned a lap of 3.43 with my Losi Mini-Late Model.
nutz4rc 09-03-2008, 08:20 AM Next Tuesday night begins a new six week series. Come on out for some fun.
Last night's pole race was fun.....
Pole race, you say; we had a pole on a stand in the back stretch, each lap you had to circle the pole and then go on to complete your lap.
nutz4rc 09-03-2008, 04:15 PM It was good to see Chuck back from his surgery one week early. He was tired and sore but had a good time.
nutz4rc 09-05-2008, 03:05 PM Reminder: Practice Saturday from 9 till 12.
Get your "stuff" ready for the next 6 week series that starts next week.
nutz4rc 09-08-2008, 10:42 AM Tuesday night is the first night of the next 6 weeks series.
Bring your 1/18th and BE THERE!
nutz4rc 09-09-2008, 09:54 PM Another small crowd tonight.

Thanks to Steve Tweedy who stopped by did some test running and turnmarshalled.
Hope to see more of the regulars out over the next few weeks.
J Maloy 09-10-2008, 09:38 PM Hey Larry!
Found it! Lot of great info. Nice to see so many posts. Most of them great,, with the exception of that one self-proclaimed pro, track organizer, and business guru. Oh well, hard to please everyone, especially one who deters young people away from our sport!! Well, I guess I should be nice.....for now, for my first post, HELLO everyone else!!! Left Turn Raceway is an awesome race track with a great host and wonderful, fun regulars.
Scoring system is great (Robotronics) with inexpensive transponders(compared to personal transponders at 90.00 to 100.00) I have raced there for quite a while, and have not had one problem with scoring system. Guys and Gals, this is a track for competitive fun. These aren't World races with factory sponsors. We have had quite a few drive more than an hour to get here and when they leave they take home a big smile and usually a full belly(THANKS Bonnie!!!!) Thanks Larry for all they work setting up the thread, it seems awesome. And for the self-proclaimed, find yourself a world class track, take some lessons on trackside manners and how to correctly promote our sport and our track, oh and you might want to get a lesson on driving as well.
Jorge
nutz4rc 09-11-2008, 05:53 PM Things are going to be more fun now, Jorge has made his presence known.
Come out and join us next Tuesday night for 1/18th scale high banked carpet oval mayhem (er, make that racing). Lots of fun, food, and great people.
nutz4rc 09-12-2008, 08:26 PM Anyone planning on going to practice Saturday, should call Bob Evans (not the restaurant) first to see if he is ready to open the track. Practice time 9-12.
Brad Boling 09-12-2008, 11:40 PM
~Brad
nutz4rc 09-13-2008, 09:33 AM See you Tuesday, Brad.
nutz4rc 09-15-2008, 09:36 AM Racing tomorrow (Tuesday night). Come on out, the crowd has been down during summer but fall is on the way. I expect Jorge to have both his Slider and Late Model back in top shape for this week. I am still trying to find some more "speed" for Brad in Slider.
1/18th fast and furious........................
nutz4rc 09-16-2008, 10:01 PM Fun Tuesday night. More came out tonight and we expect more as racers move to their fall winter schedule.
We even had a special guest fly in...hummingbird. You know why they are called hummingbirds? They don't know the words. OK enough with the corny old jokes. Tonights results:
Slider
Brad Boling
Larry Moore
Tyler Tweedy
Late Model
Larry Moore
Jorge Malloy
Bob Evans
Bob ran about half the race with a steering turnbuckle off, nice effort, Bob. Hope to see more of you out in the coming weeks.
nutz4rc 09-18-2008, 02:38 PM I saw Tim and Mike and they both said they would be back soon. Things slow down for them this fall.
Still need the rest of those missing in action to show.
