OvalTrucker 08-14-2008, 09:09 PM I know it's a little early. But I'm getting antsy. My trigger finger is gettin' itchy. I haven't smelled Paragon in weeks! Weeks!!!
I have to get my cars mailed out to Racknor for restoration. Except for the "Red Car". That one is hermetically sealed and stored in my underwear drawer for safe keeping. Or did I trade it to Ray C for a priceless foam airplane? Whatever....
Scott - you might want to wait on mailing out those cars, Keith is busy doing dirt-oval rebuilds and you could possibly find your car setup for the wrong kind of track! It'll be best to send it to Ray C, because then it'll fly around the track...
Rick Rad 08-20-2008, 09:54 AM Jon or Tim, Date for first race so I can get Sat off.

Kevin M said 10.5 motor.
Racknor 09-10-2008, 08:53 AM Kevin M said 10.5 motor.
That darn Kevin.
oldguy 09-10-2008, 11:07 AM Keith, you and Deano would (will) luv it--sorta like 6-cell mod. dirtoval on carpet. Slap a a great lookin, vintage HPI TransAm body on a TC and YOU TOO will be set to go !!!
hobbyten 09-10-2008, 12:05 PM TC? Is that touring car, any body, motor, and battery?
like you need another class????????????
kevinm 09-10-2008, 07:09 PM That darn Kevin.
We've been running 10.5BL/19T brushed. I didn't think you pan car guys could handle any more than that. Remember, it's 6 Nimh cells or lipo 7.4 volts. The car actually speeds up when you pull the trigger.

OKay Brian.... I'll bite....
If the [TC] car speeds up when you pull the trigger, apparently you must have to slow down to go around the corner. Therefore, I shall concur that the pancar guys may not be able to handle the frustration of slowing down just to speed up again. If you lift, you lose. It is much more effective to go as fast as possible all the time. Slowing down is sacrilegious and against the grain of true racers.

I didn't say that Kevin did.I just wanted to know what bodies we can run. Kevin M is the one that can't handle the all out speed of a pan car!:lol:I am with you Scott :woohoo:
oldguy 09-10-2008, 10:32 PM Go with an HPI vintage TransAm body--Camaro, Mustang, or Cuda. They should fit your dirt oval cars (TC3 etc) as well as most touring cars.

yeah yeah yeah ok Pat, I'm ok with tech at the cellar aren't I?
kevinm 09-12-2008, 07:15 PM ... besides my cars are all legal!!
Maybe they were legal before that last post, but now..... I'm sure I'll find something.
Anyway, for Touring Car we'll allow pretty much any body with fenders. Wilkie started the vintage theme with his Camaro, I've run a Mustang (and now have a 'Cuda) and a late model. Or your basic touring car works too. As long as the tires don't stick out. '55 Chevy, anyone?
P.S. - Pan cars haven't had "all out speed" for at least 3 years. The fastest cars on the straightaways have either been the 1/18th scales or Ray's buggy.
toytech 09-12-2008, 07:28 PM I'm good no cheating going on here. how about a 57 chevy nomad?

I can make anything fast on a straightaway.:)
Now, if you wanna go fast around a corner.... you need to talk to RoadSplat.http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii100/OvalTrucker/MOONER.gif

toytech 09-19-2008, 06:52 AM can we run our dirt oval bodies the way they are in tc class? do we have to put lipos without a hard case in a box, plastic, carbonfiber, fiberglass?

Bodies - Wipe the dirt off first.
LiPos - The rule we stated last year (and will still use) is either a hard cased LiPo or the chassis must protect the battery if it's soft-cased. For my TC4's, I added a fiberglass wall on the left side of the chassis and a simple piece of Lexan on the bottom of the battery to protect it from the open battery slots. I also suggest replacing the front battery strap post with a smooth wall since the narrow post can make a dent in the battery in a front-end crash.
Protection of the battery in buggies and trucks is not really an issue, since the pack is already surrounded by plastic on all sides and they don't have slots in the bottom. (Unless you've built a special oval chassis. If the pack's hanging out the left side of the car, you MUST build protection into the car for soft-cased LiPos.)
