Promatchracer 08-14-2008, 01:34 AM Like it says I am looking for a carb for an old airplane .40 engine

I have a customer that would like to get his old plane back looking right
When he fly it last some 15 years ago it crashed and the carb broke off
LMK if someone can help
Thanks
Mike Clark 08-14-2008, 10:40 AM AB? How about K&B. I have several R/C carbs wihin the engine size, how about posting a picture of your engine.
I have several Perry carbs and a few others. Try this site mecoa.com
They handle K&B, HB and several others.
martian 710 08-14-2008, 09:39 PM It's probably an O.S.Max .40 ABC
Mike Clark 08-15-2008, 12:32 AM It's probably an O.S.Max .40 ABC
Well let's not jump the gun without seeing a picture. The words ABC never appears on any OS engines old or new or at least the ones that I own.
martian 710 08-15-2008, 09:50 AM My bad! Your right, I just checked my old bushing motor from the seventies it just says O.S.Max .30. I guess I was just remembering the box label.
Promatchracer 08-15-2008, 07:21 PM OK I was trying to go by memory from what teh guy told me
I just looked at the motor and looks like it is an OS max 40SR Its still in the plane and the SR is hard to see
I did take the carb off and I have it in my hand but my camera is in the other car but I wil try and do a pict with my phone
The side of the carb says os 4b
Promatchracer 08-15-2008, 07:43 PM Here are some picts They aren't the best
Mike Clark 08-16-2008, 11:49 PM Alright Now I have seen the pictures. The OS40FSR is a very good engine and a discontinued engine however new replacement parts can be had.
I am going to get into my OS engine collection and pull out a .40FSR to see which carb it has plus the venturi arrangement. Hold tight I'll PM you tommorow.
Promatchracer 08-17-2008, 01:07 PM Thanks Mike I might be interested in the whole engine if you arfe loooking to get rid of it
The Carb say 4b
Thanks

Well I hate to tell you but this engine is NIB and a collector piece (NOT even seen Fuel) However I am trying to find a R/C carb similar to yours. That engine during it's shelf life was fitted with two different carbs from the factory a .40 & .50 size. The engine that you have is a very good & powerful
40 size. I am looking at a AX50 carb to see if it will fill the bill right now I will get back to you.
Mike
Promatchracer 08-17-2008, 11:15 PM Thanks Mike
How far are you from Forestdale
Mike Clark 08-18-2008, 12:55 AM Thanks Mike

Yep, I grew up in that area Wylam, Brookside, Minor. Yep I have been a partron of Charlie's cold beer. It's the only Topless club that I've been to when I was younger that no matter how much you drink, the women were still UGLY!
Our club used the parking lot at Minor High School a long time ago to race our 1/4 scale cars.
I owned a Hobby shop in Forrestdale in the 80's, called R/C Raceworld. I had a indoor dirt & carpet track which was a blast while it lasted.
Costa's BBQ sauce, how much do you want?
Promatchracer 08-18-2008, 11:11 AM I can use about 2 gallons of the good stuff
Up here when you ask someone what BBQ is the say you get the grill out and toss soem food on it. Not to many know what REAL BBQ is and man do I miss it. When ever I go down to B'Ham area I also get BBQ for 2 and its just for me and sweet tea.
Did you ever go to the Eagles Club in F'dale? If you did you would actually know my Dad
His name is Robert Brake and my uncle is Randy Brake
Where was Race world at? Was it in the plaza down in the whole on 78
I think there used to be a Winn Dixie there or some other grocery store.
Last time I was down there the was still the Sherman Williams paint store in that plaza and a Big lots in there too
And the Dixie Deli up top on the hill at the light
Call me later if you want
Thanks
Mike Clark 08-18-2008, 01:55 PM Nope never been to the Eagles but I do know where it is.
R/C Raceworld was next to Dixie's Deli, in the same parking lot.
Promatchracer 09-04-2008, 12:58 AM Hows the BBQ coming
OH yea anybody got news on a carb
Thanks all
BTW ROLLLLLL TIDE ROLL
Mike Clark 09-05-2008, 08:29 AM Back from vacation and ready to go.
gathered up a few old OS carbs for your engine. I need either the OD of the mounting venturi that slides into the case or the ID of the case where the carb will sit.
A perfect fit is a plus in good performance of any R/C airplane engine.
