Does anyone know if Matchbox plans to ever release the Mack tractor as a mainline or as a Convoy?? they had it back in their "Premium" series.. but I'd love to see it come back as a convoy.. Also the Kenworth and Peterbilt... that fake "tractor" is awful.... DAF?? C'mon... I wanna see some american iron... at least there's a ford aeromax....

I personally think that the DAF XF95 is one of the best castings Matchbox has done. I am a bit biased as I am a big fan of euro trucks. I do want to see more variety in the convoys and less of the tractor cab.

Sadly, most fo the Convoy parts were lost in the move between New Jersey and California.

Matchbox was based in New Jersey until August 2004, when a new team took over at Mattel HQ in California. It was quite a rush job to make the transition (they were informed in February 2004 that they would be leaving), and as such a lot of the tooling and parts that were held in New Jersey were lost. Most of the lost items consisted of things that were not currently in use. Matchbox at the time had stopped the Convoy series and were not making anything. So all of the parts were being stored.

Therefore, all the rear sections of the Convoy series that was have been lost. Most of the cab units were also lost. The Mack CH600 cab was one of the ones lost. To do it again, they would have to start from scratch. The old Peterbilts and Kenworth castings were also lost.

This is why basically everything currently available is new. The Ford Aeromax was the only old casting cab that was found to make the trip.

Mr. Tilley, when you say lost do you literally mean misplaced? Or were they accidentally or intentionally destroyed?

Hmm... seems strange... doesn't it cost thousands upon thousands of dollars to get the licensing and then create the tooling for those molds? and someone just "lost" them?? wouldn't they have been kept in a vault or something?

Who knows. The only thing that is known is that the molds for these models are not in California. If they are not in California, they cannot work with them.

I doubt Mattel would actually tell us if they got lost in transit, or were accidentally or intentionally destroyed in New Jersey.

:) :D :p

The KW mold was rumored to be cracked in China.

ok um....take a model....pour some silicone rubber on it...there is your re-mold and then cast it. Wow that was hard. Or better yet stop living in the past and go to the companies get approval for the newest models and cast those.
