This is not from my generation, but it turns out that gear for rave parties has all sorts of interesting stuff applicable to modelmaking. I'm sure someone has already used glow wire to represent laser or phaser shots. I think one of those electroluminescent T-shirt displays might work as the Seaview computer display(the wall with the scrolling black and white squares.)

Anyway, just Google "rave gear" or "LED chaser" for lots of lighting ideas. :thumbsup:
