The 7th event of the 08 SW Tour Series will hit the big 'ol VELODROME in Encino CA tomorrow morning...weather is predicted to be in the HIGH 80's and clear skies...

The mild temperatures should make the track fast - I'm expecting some RECORDS will fall...

Drivers have been bashing and thrashing on their rides for days, some weeks..trying to find every ounce of peformance they can....

RECORDS FALL in ENCINO

The weekend of the **ALLSTAR-SHOOTOUT** at Encino - 2 drivers created the 17.5/LIPO 31 LAP CLUB

Jason Hastings and Larry Ruby both ran 31 laps that weekend, BUT for that event the scoring loop had been moved from it's normal location to be able to accomodate 20 cars on the front straight.

TODAY - Both JASON and LARRY kept their FLYING ways by BOTH running 31 LAPS w/ the LOOP in it's 'Official' Position...KEEPING their Club MEMBERSHIP Alive.

Hastings edged out Ruby by a NARROW margin taking the TQ Spot and setting a NEW Record.

In the main event - it was Hastings who took off like a Jack Rabbit and looked like the car to beat. Ruby had troubles on the first lap and dropped back a bit.

While leading, Hastings spun off the track and didn't finish the event...this put long time VELO Veteran GARY HAMILTON out front (He was on Hastings tail before Jason spun)

Meanwhile back in the pack RUBY (This years ALLSTAR SHOOTOUT CHAMPION) and Eric Brust (LAST Years ALLSTAR SHOOTOUT CHAMPION) and Joe Blackburn all were battling for the 2nd Spot.

Brust had it, Ruby wanted it...thought he had it...and Brust and Ruby touched...RUBY lifted...and fell behing Blackburn who was RIGHT in the thick of the battle.

Ruby shot back...and he and Brust and Blackburn raced side by side, nose to tail for virtually ALL of the last 2 1/2 minutes of the Main Event.

With ONE lap to go - it was BRUST, RUBY and BLACKBURN, but coming off Turn 4...RUBY Shot to the High Side of Brust and Took the 2nd Spot away in one of the most spectacular finishes at the DROME.

Hamilton would take the WIN by roughly 7 seconds, but RUBY over Brust by about .04 seconds, with Blackburn on about .12 seconds behind the duo.
