The Tekin system has been in development for quite a while. We have been working closely with them providing data from our races with all the other systems we have been using as we develop the class.
They have worked hard and done a TON of race condition testing with several vehicles to work out all the bugs.
The Tekin system will definitely be worth the wait. They have taken into consideration all our concerns and comments in their development.
I am looking forward to getting my systems from them soon.

Thanks!

Well Doug finally got it all done, here are some pics of the finished project. Do you have a suggestion for starting point for gearing for where I run. I ended up with 2 SMC6028 to start with. Stormer had them for $85. I got a notification last night the Zippy 5000 packs are in stock at Hobby City too.

Looks good, I would try a 18 first and go from there.
Check your motor temps.

I just discovered the pinion gear that came with my Losi conversion kit is marked 15 but is actually a 14 tooth. I wanted to drop 1 tooth and when I didn't have to reset the mesh I counted the Losi pinion and discovered this. Interesting

Battery tray (http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info.php?cPath=238&products_id=2544)
Battery straps (http://www.impaktrc.com/product_info.php?cPath=238&products_id=2067)
Motor Mount RC Monster (http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail.php?prod=rcmxraymount)

Any suggestions? I've read in RC-Tech that a few folks are having problems with the rotor in the Tekin motors, is that an issue?

Terribly...
BUT..Do you notice that the manufactures are pushing the lower KV rated motors in an attempt to dictate the direction of the class?
That is not why I wanted to get into this... I wanted the POWER!!!! and the durability of the vehicles.

Was reading where lower kv with a 5S produces more power, cooler motors, and longer run time. Not sure if it's true, but I'd like to see what kind of run time I would get with a 1500

Most tracks are adapting ROAR rules which is 4s max.

most every one is considering 5s as the future of 1/8 electric........it is one of the only ways you can easily compete in the extended mains.......only time will tell.........my e-mbx5t runs 25 min on two 3300 5s packs with a mamba 2200 system.....

The 4S rule is just as stupid as the 8 pound weight limit that they came up with.

Fortunately, ROAR eventually realized the 8 pound weight limit was stupid.

Unfortunately, ROAR hasn't realized the 4S voltage limit is stupid.

This class is really in just the infant stages. I am sure for the next couple of years we will see constant changes and refinements of the class structure and guidlines and rules.

The problem is, meanwhile, everyone who gets into the class and runs under ROAR rules is buying motors and batteries based on a stupid rule.

People Have To Know About Race Tracks And Where They Are To Race On Them.
We Are The Only Track To Race 1/5 And 1/8 Scale Around That I Know Of And I Have Been Told The People Wanted It And So Did I, I Built The Track. Maybe I Will Just Send All The Hobby Stores Brochures Also.
We Run Any Kind Of Battery Any Weight Any Speed. We Run Ifmar Timed Laps. So Come Out With What Ever You Have And Race. No Classes At All. All Timed Laps With Handicaps. ((((( No Rules At ALL ))))) And This Is 1/8 Electric Info. But We Run All 1/8 And 1/5 Together.

You shouldn't really need the fan on the Tekin.... I don't think mine has ever kicked on....

I've run mine for an hours worth of practice time and no broken blades. One guy I practice with was down to two blades, so he replaced it with a Novak fan. We'll see if that lasts longer for him.

If you didn't need it, they would have left it off - parts left off never break or need service (a bit of wisdom from GM mogul Alfred P. Sloan).

After a 19 year layoff from racing I decided to get back into it. Wow, things changed! Lipo's, wow. Anyways, last week I purchased a Slash to get back into things on a budget but after practicing a few packs got the itch to go fast. Last night I broke down and bought the new Caster Fusion 748. I choose this because it comes with 2.4GHz radio, charger, ESC, and 1 pack. The charger appears to be a good charger, ESC I've read is average but will work. I got more packs so I can run 4s setup. I'm really curious if I can keep up with everybody on the track. I plan to run in Medina,OH in a few weeks if I can get setup.

Has anybody raced the 748 out of the box with 4s setup?

Cooler electronics last longer.... No matter how cool it runs a fan should at the very least be available.

A Tip : Trim the corners off the fan blades and they wont catch the cage when it bounces. Also use the double sticky gyro tape as it really cushions the esc and makes everything happier :)
