I just wanted to say that I enjoyed building the legs of the Pod. The parts fit well and look neat. In fact the whole kit is a great fit. I give credit when it's due and like the Seaview, it's a wonderful build.

The parts fit is great and the attention to detail is the best I've seen in a long time for a kit of this nature. I do not yet own the Seaview, but from what I have seen of it and heard, it is superb also. Cant wait to get my hands on the Chariot! Great job Moebius:thumbsup: James Webb djnick66 08-07-2008, 01:15 PM I am finishing my Pod now. The poor instructions are a real hamper with the small detail parts. I do find the small stuff fits well but the big parts don't. The cone on the top of the pod is too large to fit in its recess without sanding. The top itself leaves gaps along the sides, and you can see the holes on the sides for the two inner top braces. The interior rear panel with the cut out for the door doesn't have the same shaped cut out as the outer hull rear panel. The sides are a bit bowed where they fit against the bottom. There are also some bad mold sink marks that need to be puttied and sanded. The cone on top is one I missed... there is a bad sink around the outside on the level of the detail inside. Still, it looks really nice and each additional part makes it look better and better. I modified the color scheme a bit to make it look a bit more realistic and unique. I used a Testors dark metallic bronze/orange instead of bright orange. beatlepaul 08-07-2008, 04:54 PM I am finishing my Pod now. The poor instructions are a real hamper with the small detail parts. Of course you need to fill and sand the seams around the join Lines. But again I have to say it was a smooth Build for me:thumbsup: A lot of Fun!! Regards BP Hunch 08-07-2008, 05:37 PM I test fitted mine with tape and the seams are almost nill. Little putty, little sanding and she'll look great. I've been building styrene kits from a very young age and this kit ranks up there with the best of them. F91 08-08-2008, 01:22 AM Building the legs of the Pod had me wishing for a new 1/32 LeM. And I would HAVE GOTTEN AWAY WITH IT IF IT WASN'T FOR YOU MEDDLING KIDS!!! :0 John P 08-08-2008, 07:28 AM I'm being reminded that I've never been able to get a decent smooth metallic finish on a model in my life. djnick66 08-08-2008, 09:33 AM I used Tamiya's TS spray series Gloss Aluminum for the body. The landing gear and many fittings were sprayed with Floquil Bright Silver spray (yes they make sprays!!). You could use Tamiya TS Silver Leaf, but I had the Floquil stuff open. For the orange, I decided to modify the scheme a bit and used a new Testors laquer metallic burnt orange. I am very happy with the results. Its a bit more bronze-ish and doesn't look as toy like. Building the landing gear was fun. It is wise not to use glue since the instructions don't say how the tiny pins on the hinge parts should face. You need to build up a gear, test fit it to make sure the pins are facing in the right direction, then build the others. Admiral Nelson 08-08-2008, 05:13 PM One of the latches on the door was broken. The hindge will hide it though. djnick66 08-08-2008, 05:43 PM Latches? The kit just has hinges and they are not all the same. The top and bottom hinges actually work. The middle is just for show (one photo of the TV miniatures shows NO center hinge anyway). Be sure to use the solid hinge half on the back wall of the Pod not one of the landing gear type hinges with a hole for the pins like are used for the top and bottom hinges. The middle one is different. Admiral Nelson 08-08-2008, 09:59 PM Latches? The kit just has hinges and they are not all the same. The top and bottom hinges actually work.
