I just ran accross these pictures from '66 or '67 and thought I'd share. There are two 8X4 sheets of plywood there, so I had about a 12 ft straight. Not bad for way back then.

Now the decor.... reminds me to call me grandparents :) jokes! win43 08-04-2008, 04:32 PM 12' straight !!! Now that would be sweeeeet :) roadrner 08-04-2008, 06:01 PM Gotta love that 70's decor. Paneling, must have been installed in every Rec room of the day. :) Great pix. rr NTxSlotCars 08-04-2008, 06:52 PM Out of Sight, Man!!!!! Great HiFi. You still have any of the posters? I'm diggin the David Peason Holman-Moody 427 Ford Torino Talladega, brought to you by safely by GoodYear. Photographed with a Cannon using Kodak film and paper. Whew, I guess they had a bunch of sponsors then too. Seriously though, how much of the collection of cars and posters do you still have? Great stuff Rich hojoe 08-04-2008, 07:56 PM The photos on the wall were mostly pages out of Hot Rod, Car Craft, and the like. They are long gone. I suspect I still have most of the cars. I really wish there was a better picture. Some of those slots are impossible to identify. hojoe Marty 08-04-2008, 09:09 PM That is way kool!! I dig the the picture of the ZZR from the movie "Out of sight"! Marty rudykizuty 08-05-2008, 01:32 PM Groovy!!!! :dude: sethndaddy 08-05-2008, 09:29 PM I love the floor pattern and paneling, looks like my house now, lol. Odd......the 1 ft height of the table. Did you stand to race, looking down on the platform like a hawk? Never thought of it, but the view looks like it would be cool. ScottD961 08-05-2008, 09:34 PM Cool looking room hojoe! hojoe 08-05-2008, 10:30 PM I spent the first 17 years of my life in that house ('53-'70) and I always remember the basement looking like that (less the track and pictures on the wall, of course). That track was 4 inches off the floor and I think we mostly sat on the floor or stood or ran around the room as 14 yr olds would. The first 4x8 board was from my figure 8 Lionel train, which came apart as soon as I got my Tjets. The second board was added to double the layout and I think I shoved whatever I could under it to level it out. Thos pictures really bring back some memories. hojoe Marty 08-05-2008, 10:54 PM Your picture got me thinking I had a picture around here somewhere, and I found it!! http://photos.hobbytalk.com/data/511/medium/1967.jpg We had a very small house. I used to slide between the slot car table, my folks called it a card table, and the china hutch I got from my Grandmother to get into bed. The hutch had my model cars on display. Me and my buddies tried to set up a bigger track in our attic, one buddies basement, anothers garage, etc... Our parents thought we were too rowdy, so I set my track up, tore it down when they needed the table, and rebuilt it with different layouts. Sharp eyed readers will notice this particular layout went over the edge of table in a couple places! The picture was taken with...... a Polaroid Swinger Camera! Anybody remember those? Anybody else got old pics of their tracks? Marty ScottD961 08-06-2008, 10:32 AM HoJoe I kind of did the same thing in a way. I got rid of the trains for the slots. Marty Cool Layout. We built ours on a narrow piece of plwood that dad put two 7 foot straights on, with a tight curve on one end and a two level circle on the other. We kind of moved it around to keep it out of everyones way but it usually ended up underneath my bed. and hung ot a little. Finally ended up in the basement after everyone lost interest in it. Years later I pulled it out and put a new power supply to it , and it WORKED ! Aurora was the bomb !
