View Full Version : Encouraging news from an LHS
frankenstyrene 08-03-2008, 03:00 PM I found one today in my area who will continue to carry everything Monarch and Moebius puts out...manager said he'd still be selling Nosferatu kits today if they were still in production, such is the demand for them. Forgot to ask if any kids were asking, or just old timers like us...will ask when I see him next. But still, how's that for good news for the hobby?

frankenstyrene 08-03-2008, 03:05 PM Mods,
I didn't see the LHS thread below...feel free to relocate this if you like.

Auroranut 08-03-2008, 06:15 PM That's great news Frankenstyrene!!! If everyone here approaches their hobbyshops, there'll hopefully be a big demand for M&M kits!!

djnick66 08-03-2008, 11:21 PM I could have sold more Nosferatus. I was only able to get 6 for my shop, but kept 4 for myself. Limited edition products really tick off a lot of customers. Im not sure its a good idea overall. On the other hand, it makes for a good resale market later on, but thats probably not the way its supposed to work.

Remember, Nosferatu ISN'T a limited edition. Scott had a smaller first run produced to be cautious. He'll be producing and selling as long as its viable, I'm sure.

Someone should tell the wholesalers. Where I bought my kits from has removed the kit totally from thier on line data base and its marked as permanently OOP.

Seems like I remember Scott saying that there would be reissues, but the packaging would change. I recall someone buying a kit direct from him and saying there were White parts ( non glow) included in the kit, and the kit number had changed. ( second issue) and the 3rd issue would be frightning lightning. The 4th issue? Who knows what that might be like? LOL. I'm sure he will keep producing them as long as there is a demand, But I think he wants to keep the "collectability " of the early first issue.
frankenstyrene 08-05-2008, 10:59 AM Found out about a couple more LHS in my area last night and wrote them the same question. One just replied:
We don't carry any of the Moebius kits in the store. I can get them, but looking at the in-stock list, most of the items are not available at the moment.
We do not have a way to get Monarch kits.
Frank, what would you advise he do regarding this not-in-stock list he's seeing? Contact you or another distributor?
And can anyone tell me what I could suggest he do about Monarch?
He at least sounds interested in checking into these kits further...he said I could call anytime and ask for the buyer but I wouldn't know what to tell him...so thanks in advance!!!

The only kit in the line that is not available is the Seaview. It should be back in stock in September. Some releases aren't out yet of course, but only one current production kit is temporarily sold out.
Monarch has only 4 distributors in the US. HobbyTyme, Stevens, MMD, and Doll & Hobby. Let him know that, and he can get the Ghost when it appears soon. Nosferatu will be a while from what I understand before we will see more at distributors. Hope this helps!
frankenstyrene 08-05-2008, 09:27 PM Thanks - I will pass the list of distributors and see what happens then. I'm hoping they'll actually carry, not just order on request.
