I have a Wheelhorse 7235 yard tractor with a 15 amp regulated battery starting system. I dropped the gas cap (whoops!) and it sparked across the solenoid. Tractor started to crank, but I stopped it before it turned over. (Remember open gas tank!) Now I get nothing when I turn the key. If I jump it to the truck, it will start until I disconnect and it dies. Have I fried the solenoid, the regulator-rectifier, something else?
Appreciiate any help.

Look for a fuse in your system, that may have blown.
I don't think you damaged the solenoid, but even if you did, it would only affect the cranking of the starter motor and not the running of the engine, the alternator and regulator are also not needed for the engine to run.
I would check the condition of the battery and the connections to the battery, make sure they are all clean and tight.

Thanks. It's a new battery. I looked for a fuse, but didn't find one and the tech guide doesn't indicate one in the schematic. So I took your advice and started cleaning. Polish up every electrical contact with the Dremel. Voila! It starts like a charm. Way too simple for a feeble guy like me. Many thanks for the help. Now it's back to work.
