I Am Pretty New To Racing And Have Been Working Really Hard Over The Last Year To Figure My Car Out And How To Set It Up And Although I Probably Dont Know Half Of What I Need To Know I Feel Pretty Confident That I Can Atleast Get My Car Close Week To Week Especially With A Little Help From Some Friends At The Track.
Then Tonight I Was Reading Another Post And Somebody Was Talking About How He Sets His Radio Up And Then I Started Thinking Now That I Figured Out All The Functions On My Car I Should Figure Out What All The Functions On My Radio. I Am Running A 3pk And I Can Read The Manual That Comes With It But That Doesn't Tell Me What That Function Actually Does So I Am Kind Of Hoping That Some One Can Take The Time And Outline The More Important Setting On A Radio And What It Actually Does.. I Have The 3pk So Not To Be Selfish But If You Can Explain A Litle More On That Radio Specifically That Would Be Great Thanks In Advance

Owe Yeah I Dont Know If It Will Matter But I Do Run 1:10 Oval Pan Cars

It seems that D/R really depends on how your car is setup. If your car is loose you are going to put less D/R into your radio. If your car is tight your are going to put more D/R into the car.

Everything really depends on how you like it. No one can give you a good radio setup. Because everyone is diffrent and there is no perfect radio setup.

As a word of caution; there are a LOT of tuning aids in the 3PK but don't fall into the trap of tuning your radio instead of tuning your car. As an example, using your Dual Rate to correct a lose or tight condition is putting a bandaid on the problem instead of fixing it.

...so then - would it be best to set your D/R at say 15% with you EPA at 70%?

Then set your split dials to 5% increments on the top dial and the bottom one to 1% increcments for FINER adjustments?

That still gives you room to add MORE or Take Away steering...and SET YOU car up for those settings (or something similar)???

I know Carpet and Asphalt are probably much different...

Also - one of the SWEETEST FUNCTIONS on the 3pk is the O.S. button on the bottom of the steering wheel area that you can set 100% steering on to get out of trouble and be able to turn around...

...WOW - I can't believe it's already been THAT CLOSE to a Year since I started THAT Topic.... LOL

Personally, I keep the EPA at 100% and don't mess with it but that's just me.The same with the EXP adjustments.

Dual Rate I set "per track" to a point where I can "turn a little too hard" if I go to full lock. This gives me some room to get out of trouble and I set it at 1% for finner adjustment. In my opinion, if you need to have a it at 5%, you may need to reset your servos. The bottom thumb knob I leave for 100% ATL.

Steering speed is someithing I am working with lately. Up to this point, I have tried to keep it at 100% but I had a conversation with some "hot shoes" at Easley and they said they have been cutting way back so they could feel the car more. I've been tring it but I have to say that "schools out" on if I will keep it like that.

I've been playing with this for a while. I like to slow down my servo if the car has a good feal to it but reacts a little to quick. Helps me anyways.

Great point Lin

me personally I run 80 % epa with 50% d/r i feel it allows me to really feel what the car is doing.
