View Full Version : The Invaders season 2??When???? beatlepaul 08-02-2008, 11:22 AM I couldn't find any info on when this will be released. Any of you guys have a clue?? BP John P 08-02-2008, 01:31 PM Finished season 1 already? :) Seaview 08-02-2008, 04:58 PM All I know is that it's just been released in Australia, but without any "extras". This MAY mean that they're in the process of putting together a Region 1 with extras for release later this year or early next year. The most up-to-date info could probably be gleaned from the TVshowsonDVD.com website. And personally, I'm looking forwards to its release, too. Dave Hussey 08-03-2008, 09:25 AM Me three! The show ran here on the Government owned ABC network back in the 1960s in glorious black and white, and was never repeated. Very few people I know have ever heard of it, let alone seen it. You'd think that the more lucrative U.S. market would be a better place to launch the box series on DVD. Glenn :) The Batman 08-04-2008, 03:44 PM The show ran here on the Government owned ABC network back in the 1960s in glorious black and white Huh? Where did you get the idea that ABC was owned by the the United States Government? And where did you get the idea that THE INVADERS was shown in Black & White? There werre plenty of B&W sets still in use back then but, if you owned a color set you saw the show in color ( just like ABC's BATMAN ). ABC started out as the NBC Blue radio network ( owned by RCA ). They sold it to Edward Noble who was the owner of Life Savers Candy and Rexall Drug Stores. He changed the name to the American Broadcasting Company. Leonard Goldenson of United Paramount Theaters ( UPT ) Merged with ABC radio and the fledgling Dumont television network and eventually formed ABC television. There's a whole lot more to their story but... the point is: it wasn't owned by the US Govt. - GJS The Batman 08-04-2008, 03:58 PM Oh... P.S. ABC is presently owned by Disney. - GJS Bruce Bishop 08-04-2008, 04:03 PM Batman - GlennME is in Australia and I think he was talking about the Australian government. Maybe they only had black and white broadcasts there that long ago. Or maybe like me they didn't realize that some shows were actually in color until many years later when I finally saw some color episodes of Superman and realized maybe some other shows from my youth were also in color. And I know there was at least one different ABC than the U.S. network. It confused me as a kid when I would watch some shows that had the other ABC logo. I remember seeing it on some of the shows I have converted to DVD the last 3 years, but don't remember which ones. The Batman 08-04-2008, 04:08 PM Batman - GlennME is in Australia and I think he was talking about the Australian government. Maybe they only had black and white broadcasts there that long ago. AH! That would make a difference! As Roseanne Rosannadanna used to say: "Nevermind" - GJS :) GlennME 08-04-2008, 07:49 PM AH! That would make a difference! As Roseanne Rosannadanna used to say: "Nevermind" - GJS :) LOL!!! No worries Bats. Australia just seems like a strange place to launch a show that very few Australians have ever seen. I'm 53, and friends a couple of years younger than me have never heard of it. Glenn :) Seaview 08-04-2008, 07:51 PM :D Heh heh heh heh..."World's Greatest Detective". HA HAHAHAHAHAHahahaha...:jest: Eric K 08-04-2008, 11:13 PM I remember all shows at that time had "In Color" at the beginning to promote color TVs. Every letter was a different color. Maybe that was removed for Australia? GlennME 08-04-2008, 11:31 PM I remember all shows at that time had "In Color" at the beginning to promote color TVs. Every letter was a different color. Maybe that was removed for Australia? I suspect that "In Color" blurb was removed from shows in the black and white days. Australian TV went colour in 1974. Back then, the networks dragged almost every colour show previously shown in black and white out of retirement, and gave them another run. It was great to watch shows like Batman the way it was meant to be seen, and Star Trek was a treat too. Up until then I hadn't realised all the expendable ST crew members wore red shirts. :) Unfortunately, The Invaders was not revived, and I didn't see it in colour intil the mid 1980s when the first eight episodes were released on VHS here. Every letter was a different color. Maybe that was removed for Australia? All color shows on the ABC network (the American ABC network, that is) had color "bumpers" from 1966 to about 1970. Unlike NBC's Peacock intro, ABC had individual bumpers for each show ("Batman -- In Color," "The FBI -- In Color," etc.) The bumpers were dropped from syndication prints. iamweasel 08-05-2008, 03:09 PM I really can't wait for season two to come out. I honestly didnt know if the show would still hold up well after all these years, but it is seriously a solid show, which is unlike the Mod Squad, I used to love that show but I cannot sit through an episode without pulling my hair out, I still have a lot of that and wish to keep it that way. Zorro 08-05-2008, 08:40 PM the Mod Squad, I used to love that show but I cannot sit through an episode without pulling my hair out, I still have a lot of that and wish to keep it that way. My wife and I rented a couple of episodes a few years back. Got a big kick out of the episode with a baby faced Richard Dreyfuss as a homicidal maniac and an unknown Harrison Ford as a uniformed cop who gets shot after his one line of dialog, which was "Stop!". Bruce Bishop 08-05-2008, 10:20 PM Associated British Corporation - That's it! I knew I had seen the 'other' ABC letters and thought I had once known what they meant. Thanks for reminding me! iamweasel 08-06-2008, 01:20 AM Now thats funny. I like seeing the city back then and the cars but thats really the best I can come up with for that one. Actually, I remember the "In Color" bumper was still on Batman in syndication. In fact, when the series was repeated on TV Land in 2002, a couple episodes' bumpers survived.
