View Full Version : 1/18 Ertl Challanger
Stangfreak 08-01-2008, 06:47 PM I have about 70 or 75 1/18 scale cars of various brands... I have kinda neglected this collection for the 1/64s... As I get them down and clean them up, I'll share them with all of you... Here is a 1970 Dodge Challanger T/A by Ertl... Panther pink in color unlike no other... A real beauty !!!

CJTORINO 08-01-2008, 07:27 PM thats a "mistake"car.
the whole hood should be black, on a '70 Challenger T/A.
Nice pictures,though.

They were avaliable with metal hoods painted the same color as the car... I learned this from a man with a plumb crazy 70 Challanger displayed at the Mopar Nationals here last year... He told me the carbon fiber hoods were standard, and the metal hoods were optional !!!

If it was anything but metal it would have been fiberglass. Carbon fiber was years off.

I respectfully suggest to you that guy didn't know what he was talking about. They didn't offer an "optional" metal hood on those cars. Every single one of those T/A's and AAR's were made with a fiberglass hood with an integral scoop, in order to homologate it for Trans Am racing.
And those fiberglass hoods were completely black, no body color anywhere.

69Stang 08-05-2008, 08:36 AM Hey Stangfreak,
I tried to reply to your IM, but you have it turned off.
I just wanted to say that I truly don't think the guys were trying to rip you for the car, they just thought that Ertl had made a mistake on that release.
I have no idea myself, but I hate to see you upset.
I am so sorry that your ticked. we've all been there before...I mean both the ticked and the ticker!!
Just know that if you choose to go, you will be very missed by many overall! You bring so much to the boards. Keep us posted as to where you hang out, I want to keep up with you and your wonderful customs and photos!
But I have to say again, that I don't want to see you go anywhere. I think you will see the comments were not ment as any attack.

Well, I am so sorry to see that. In my opnion it is the boards loss. But there must have been more going on that what met the eye. I see nothing on here to have been that mad over, or to have been banned over!:freak:
I must have missed something. But I do wish him all the best. Made some great customs and always offered up super photos!

I know people don't usually get banned for it, but he seemed pretty angry so I dunno.

Nice catch.
Motorhead 08-09-2008, 09:51 PM Soooo let me get this straight. Stangfreak posts tonnes of pictures of his cars that everyone drools over. Then he posts pictures of a car he is very proud of and some stickler decides to kibitz over the fact that ERTL didn't have there facts straight (over 10 years ago), he agrees, PAINTS IT to satisfy and then still gets beaten over the head with more "facts". Then to top it all off he gets banned from this forum because he finally loses his cool, mentions "know it all jerks" and says da**? Really? Banned? For how long??? Seems a bit harsh in my opinion. I think somebody made a bad decision and really if that's how this forum works maybe I'll reconsider where I post.
Just my 2 cents........
doorslammer 09-12-2008, 02:08 PM Not trying to stir things up, but I never read any of the posts after mine and had no idea about all the fuss that followed. No one was trying to criticize Stangfreak here. He posted a pic of a nice car and Chuck pointed out an error that ERTL had made. He wasn't criticizng SF. SF then related some bad info that he had been told, which contradicted what Chuck said, and I simply backed up what Chuck said. I wasn't "beating up" on SF, I merely pointed out that the dude told SF some bad info, and was setting other folks straight that Chuck was right about the T/A hoods.
How that can be turned by SF or Motorhead into an attack on SF, I have no idea, but I'll say here that that wasn't my intention, nor do I think that was Chuck's intention. If we see someone passing along some incorrect information, are we supposed to not post the correct info?
