I noticed that alot of matchers do not have any 4600's in stock, are they being fazed out due to lipo or do the matchers not have any cells to match as of now?

View Full Version : what's the deal with 4600's???? 67-4-fun 07-31-2008, 01:57 PM I noticed that alot of matchers do not have any 4600's in stock, are they being fazed out due to lipo or do the matchers not have any cells to match as of now? JOHN B 07-31-2008, 02:07 PM I believe the matchers are being very sceptical as to not get caught up with loads of unwanted product!! Looks as if lipo will fully take over. But hopefully come carpet season there will be 4600's floating around!!!!! hint hint trailranger 07-31-2008, 02:27 PM I didn't realize that 1:12 racers were all lipo yet. Tommygun43 07-31-2008, 02:45 PM it's becuz nimh is better than lipo. supply and demand teehe Racin Steve 07-31-2008, 04:45 PM I noticed that alot of matchers do not have any 4600's in stock, are they being fazed out due to lipo or do the matchers not have any cells to match as of now? I'm personnaly getting more in next week. Steve. katf1sh 07-31-2008, 07:57 PM team power push has some stout sticks pro match has great sticks and jbr just got a fresh batch 1.25+ volts Danny-SMC 07-31-2008, 08:43 PM We don't sell off our website but we have been shipping packs to our distributors. Were simply not matching as many cells as before as the demand is much less with allot of racers going the Lipo route and I can understand why this is happening as the sub-c manufacturers can't figure out how to make a cell with no issues. The recent improvements in Lipo technology has also made them more appealing and as competitive as sub-c cells with a much better life expectancy. killerkoncepts 07-31-2008, 10:31 PM i think sub c cells will make a comeback during carpet season.. alot are going to find lipo is gonna be too fast with unlimited amount of grip carpet tracks produce! ScottH 07-31-2008, 10:58 PM No such thing as too fast, just too little traction!! :D Al Schwarze 07-31-2008, 11:50 PM AMEN to that!!! Ha Ha. I alwas say.. Eric bluelineracer 08-01-2008, 09:35 AM i think sub c cells will make a comeback during carpet season.. alot are going to find lipo is gonna be too fast with unlimited amount of grip carpet tracks produce! Ya know Jody, I argued and tried to hang on to that hope for the last 2 months. (check with Sonny on that:)) I saw very few matchers/importers/sub-c proponents getting online and vowing to support this market or give any comfort to the guys wanting to know if they'd still be around. I would think at the rate the LiPo was gaining momentum that someone(now Salvas, thank you) would have been on here for the last 2 months kicking and screaming that they would still have product and had no intentions of letting this market die. Instead I heard the same comment over and over " we're not going to get cells because there's no demand for them, everybody wants lipo". I don't blame them...if they have no orders, there is no sense buying more cases. Consequently the importers(Danny/Jack and Trinity) will have to make a decision at some point that importing the Sub-c is no longer justified as they can't move them to the matchers. I've said all along that I'm not particularly against LiPo, but I was unsettled by the indecision and pace at which it's moving. I wanted to start the year like I always had....since the first rc car I ever had....with sub-c cells. But...now I've come to realize that if it's not worth the matchers fighting to defend, how could I feel secure fighting that battle knowing the major players were ,at very least, as skeptical as I was? I have finally decided to give it a fair chance(hoping that it will be a SMC 3200 pack) to stabilize our "little niche". As a group, we're all over the place right now...and trying to make decisions based on the (arguably) slowest time of the oval racing season. Once the season rolls around for the states that thrive on indoor carpet racing, we'll undoubtedly need to make our decision, right or wrong, but make a decision and get racing. It may possibly be that there is no alternate for the once popular 4c stock/17.5 class as technology develops. But...if the matchers are confident enough that they can provide a power source to keep that class from dying, now would apparently be the time to speak up. Face it, the racers are the ones who have accelerated the LiPo movement. The matchers and importers are just the ones who will ultimately have to decide when enough is enough. Don't agree? Neither did I until I talked with Justin, Corey, and Jerry about the NiMh sales. We racers(those who are racing) have used their purchasing power and have made the LiPo market attractive enough to put a real hurt on the sub-c market. There's obviously racers out there on both sides of the fence in regards to LiPo limits or a "spec" pack. At this point it's going to come down to a matter of trust. If we spec a pack(such as the SMC pack) on their word that there will be no funny business and 12-24 months of supply with no updates/performance enhancements, that's about as good as we can ask for during this transition. If they fail to deliver on either of these promises, after giving ultimate trust to the racers and sanctioning bodies, I believe the general population would hang them high and leave them for dead. If they DO deliver and all goes well, we may be on the right track to unifying at least one aspect of our racing world again. So, as not to stray too far from the original post LOL....the 4600's are fading fast unless someone that has the paddles is willing to revive them...pronto. ***My opinions after many phone calls and stubborn attitude, not to be forced upon anyone else.*** dk killerkoncepts 08-01-2008, 09:40 AM dk you have mail... Racin Steve 08-01-2008, 11:27 AM There will be no issue getting EnerG4600 cells throughout the winter carpet season. Danny at SMC clearly stated to me that suplying cells to me (TQ Cells) wasn't a problem as long as I give him a forecast and a reasonable leadtime. So, yes I'll have cells and don't foresee any supply issues. I'm still devoted to sub-c cells and foresee a great 2008-2009 season. For one, NEOT is back in full swing and Ni-Mh is only what you'll run there. Steve Salvas TQ Cells JDieter 08-01-2008, 12:41 PM To all. I assure you. All of these nimh companies still want to produce cells. I have samples from most companies, and each crop improves over the previous. They heard the problems, and addressed them. We all know how to keep our cells up, by we I mean the guys who go to races often. But the hobbyist still has trouble. They leave packs un attended, and all nimh cells deteriorate. My race packs lasted through both roar nats and the reedy race, but they were kept track of every couple days. In Europe, it is still nimh only. their racing is do much better than ours.
