By devoting a couple of hours every available weekend, I'm able to get done with a model in about a month or so, depending on its complexity and size.
As you know, patience is one of the greatest tools in the art of model building, so being a "slowpoke" actually works in your favor. ;)

Turns out studies have shown that model building is also good for the health of a marriage. The more time you spend brooding, locked in the garage working with cement, paint and plastic, makes her miss you once in a while.
I'm currently up to my twelth fully-lit, remote-controlled Seaview with fully functional Flying Subs capable of flight, my third Spindrift capable of flight and actual interdimensional travel and have an entire pallet of shrink-wrapped chariots and space pods on the way...And our marriage has never been better.

I've been slacking off lately, but I usually get a model-a-month built. I usually spend one hour per evening working on something. I'm still doing that, I just haven't managed to finish anything lately!

Some times I can knock one out in a couple of days to a week... My seaview took about 27 days. My longest on the bench was about 9 years :p :drunk:

wow now I feel bad Ive had the Battlestar Galactica on my table for god 10 years, every time I look at it I have to fix another problem with it.
Edit I just realized Ive been working on it longer than ive been married - it was on my desk the day my (now wife) first came over to my Air Force Dorm Room OMG I just reminded her she laughed and said it sure has history!
