Do all the 1/32 cars come without knurled axles so that
the rear wheels work their way loose? How about front
axle bushings or a hole instead of a slot to rattle around in?
I thought the Scalextric and Carrera brands would be better
than an Artin, but they have many production simularities.

tjettim,

No, not all 1/32 cars come without knurled axles. Scalextric is a cut above Artin in both body and chassis, but may be a cut below Carrera's body details and should exceed their chassis. I usually like NINCO, Slot.it and FLY more than Scalextric and definitely more than Carrera. SCX appears to be getting there and definitely has some quality cars as well - their PRO Audi is SWEET!

As for the axles, if you like the cars you have and if the race track you race at allows it for cars that race in their series, you can get aftermarket upgrades for cars that do not have knurled axles. Alternatively, instead of switching the axles, you can get aftermarket wheels that attach themselves to the axles with grub screws. There are definitely ways around this, provided the track you race at allows these sorts of mods.

Hope that helps you out a little.

The cars with aluminum wheels, hotter motors etc.have to
run in a different class.I need some splined axles for my
Scalextric F1 and Mercedes GTC.The snap in guides suck too,
who makes screw topped ones for the Scalextric cars?

You may not want to do this, but I've done this before....just drop some super glue into the wheel and slide the axle in. That will hold it for you to race. If for some reason you need to pull the wheel off, breaking the seal of the super glue is not that tough.

As for knurled axles, I'm fairly positive you can get some replacement parts or upgraded ones from Scalextric. Here are the Scalextric parts:

As for the guides, Slot.it has a good screw top one that everyone likes - I think its even got a deeper flag:

Part number SICH10 is the Universal one.

Hope the helps you out some.
