I just wanted to say thank you to all of the .12 racers that came out and supported our RC-Oval race. I think we put on a pretty good show for everyone.

Good to see Ricky Hill back racing too, I hope we see more of him.

The next race is Aug 30th at Fox Mountain.

Just to let you guys know, there is going to be a radio impound for the Nats. I sort of think that's pretty foolish in this day and age but then it's ROAR so it makes sense.

JONW1020
07-28-2008, 08:27 AM
Lin, I think that is for non DSM radio's

McLin
07-28-2008, 12:26 PM
I don't think so, I talked with them Friday and they said ALL radios. Non DSM radios makes a lot more sense but you know who we are dealing with here.

ScottH
07-28-2008, 06:17 PM
That is weird. It was a ROAR race last year and the only radios impounded were non-DSMs.

McLin
07-28-2008, 06:27 PM
I hope you guys are right and I'm wrong. The one I was talking to could have been mistaken.

Tim Mc
07-28-2008, 06:49 PM
I've heard they are impounding the drivers leaving the radios alone.

McLin
07-28-2008, 07:23 PM
Dang, now that's just more then I can stand! That impound area is just too darn small!

2.3 RADIO IMPOUND
2.3.1 Radio Impounds are required for all Level 3-5 events. It is suggested that lower level
events establish a Radio Impound area if possible. All radio transmitters, including those
operating on 2.4GHz DSM/DSS, must be impounded prior to the start of the first qualifier,
and prior to start of racing on subsequent days. It is recommended that radios be
disarmed by the driver at the time of impound and when returned after a race, by removing
the battery pack, module, or crystal. Radios will be released at the end of the day's
activities, or when a driver is leaving the race site. If release is prior to the end of the day's
activities, the radio must be disarmed.
Note: The impounding of modules only without the full transmitter is not allowed.

Roar is living in the stone ages! New Technology is lost with Roar......Why would a DSM/Spektum Radio need to be impounded! No reason.....What you need to do is Email David Lee( leeda@tqci.net ) about this...No DSM Impound! If everyone emails him maybe Roar will Listen!

I think in 2009 Roar and all events should be DSM/Spektrum 2.4g type Only......

McLin
07-28-2008, 07:48 PM
Yes everyone get together and email David and maybe it will be changed.........yeah right!

Impounding DSM is the DUMBEST thing I have heard of! And Jimmy is exactly right at a Level 5 event DSM should be manditory. If you are going to jump into this level of racing then jump into this level of equipment. We should all just say NO and not impound them. What are they going to do? Send EVERYONE home?

AND what happens when you break your car and you NEED your radio to repair it? Like reset the front end or in our case we change motors and have to reset the throttle and brake?

I have seen ROAR do dumb things but this is STONE AGE DUMB.

Last year was non DSM only, but with the RMT there who knows what will happen. If I haddn't already paid I wouldn't race

Tim Mc
07-28-2008, 08:31 PM
Would the rule keep you from going? It's not a real set back anyway.

Benjie Wright
07-28-2008, 08:55 PM
Not to worry, I'll make the race. Last year i was non DSM and i had to impound my module. Not that big of a deal-Unless you forget to get it like someone i know.hehe But i do think it is stupid to impound DSM radios.

At the carpet nats at Greeneville, TN last year they impounded all radios. I crashed in round 2 and had extenceive damage to the front end. I was not able to repair the car before round 3 started. Racing was going to go straight from round 3 to round 4. I could not get my radio, a DSM and there would be no time to adjust and set radio between rounds.

My trim was so far off, that the car was going to be in the racers way if I tried to run. I pulled the car and set out round 3. My racing was as good as over after the crash in round 2 without using the radio to set the car. It turned out to be one of those deals where I had get very upset with the official to get him to see my dilemma. After asking him why I could not get my DSM radio to make repairs an saying I was going to write Futaba about how ROAR would not let a racer use their new technology, he gave in and let me get the radio. He was going to watch me make repairs. I took my time, moved very slow trying to piss him off as much as I could.
I am very seriously thinking of just staying home even though I have paid. The $80.00 loss would be better than the hassle and keeping me in a better frame of mind.

Darrell, I have heard them say you can be asked to leave if another radio is found.

ScottH
07-28-2008, 09:19 PM
"FOUND" is the key word.

McLin
07-28-2008, 10:03 PM
No, DUMB is the key word. BUT in all fairness, we will have to wait and see just how they do it.

"FOUND" is the key word.

Scott, sence you are on the Oval committee I would like to think you could have came up with a better answer. Instead you chose to find a way around the rule. I would like to think the people on that committee are trying to help fix this type of thing.

ScottH
07-29-2008, 09:57 PM
Sorry to dissapoint ya Larry.

But you are talking WAY OUT OF SCHOOL here my friend. You have absolutely no idea what I am doing, how I am doing it or who I am talking to.

FWIW -- I DID try to get this resloved, I have talked with David Lee and Dawn, the rule is there, a variance was asked for and denied.

One race guys... one race in a season. Either go or don't. If you are, get on with it. If you're not stop trying to justify it by taking shots at one or another over something not a one of you can control.

After reading Scotts edited post. I want to say thank you Scott for what you tried to do. I only wish you could have said it eariler. Please accept amy appology And post will be removed.

Tim is that manning up with enough class for you?

Scott- Larry, Lets not get mad at each other, There are only a few of us nitro burners left, we have to all stick together.lol Let's face it, neither one of us can change the rule on an individual basis, But why we are at the nats we can raise #&77 about it as a group. If they get mad and kick us out, we can have our on nationals next year and we won't invite ROAR.

Hope you can get there in time for all the SMURF DRAMA. It always takes place after the first practice, then they start running over and worrying Andy about what to do to fix there car. This is normally followed by an hour or two of them sweating and chasing there car around the race track. It can really get commical after about thirty minutes or so. Then they will hit one good lap and swear they are the fastest car thats ever been on the track. Thats normally followed by a big bang, and you guessed it- MORE SWEATING AND CHASING THERE CAR AROUND THE TRACK> Later-THE PHENOM
