Nothing like Custom Works though, but I agree, this will help build oval racing. There are other ways to move oval racing up a notch as well as new cars! Like John will say and I agree, If you don't support your local track(s), then there will be NO oval racing!

the info said it could hold lipos I don't see why it would not take brushless. the top wing looks small have to make a CW wing for it

Sprint Cars are so much cooler than stock cars.

I guess it is a matter of opinion because I love the Late Models much more than the Spints. :rolleyes:

Plus, dirt late models are crazy... not like stock cars at all. Super Late Models are "where it's at" right now as far as competition and popularity. Go see a Little Valley super late model show sometime and tell me it's not awesome. Sprints are awesome too though. All depends on the track too.

late models are fun to watch but the sprints at bristol when they put dirt on it ran low 11 late mdels just got in the 12s and the auto value super srpints did 11.5 s on the same track the nascab run and how many full bodie cars can clear the flag stand

If I get into dirt oval again that should be the car to get. I just hope people at Losi will eventually show us how to put some body post so we can put some Late Model or EDM Modified bodies. Heck why not a shell that would have the look of a full-bodied Saturday stocker? We would need only ONE car; just change the body, depending of our preference of the day.

I agree. Besides, some tracks are edm, some have sprints.

Dirt oval guys especially in Michigan need to get together on this oval racing deal.
I know there is a lot more guys out there and there are VERY FEW tracks to race on.

Maybe it is the last of us that make the most noise/talk. Seems like a lot if guys talk about racing oval but really don't. It's a real shame, I look at it as a lost art if it go's away.

We are having a race on the 9th and a Trophy race on the 16th, it will be the best show on the outdoor clay in this state, call me out on it if you like. :)

Just so you know on the Losi 1/10th Slider; according to Todd Hodge who helped design it "there are no Losi parts on this sprint". Nothing interchanges with any other Losi product. It does have a geared diff not a ball diff. It looks like it should work since it is basically a 1/18th Slider on steroids. The motor is 32,000 rpm brushed motor and ESC is good for down to 12 turn mod. Todd Putnam is working with Losi on a set of rules to make this a easy to develop spec class. We hope to bring new racers into both carpet and dirt oval with this being the entry level sprint. It will sell for about $240 RTR.

I am certain someone will pull the stock ESC and motor and test it with something with more bang. Time will tell how it works.

I just went to the hobby shop of St-Roch near Montreal. The owner told me the Late Model version of 1/10 Losi slider should be out next year. Main difference would be lower or no roll cage.

Since I already have Ni-Mh sport packs that sleep on a corner the Slider should be my next new RC car.

Saw this sprint first hand last weekend in IL and it's a very nice looking car, very realistic, should definately get some more people involved in dirt oval racing. Had a nice scale appearance and they did an awesome job designing everything down the mud plugs on the wheels:)

Most sites say back ordered until October. Some will probably hit a few locations earlier. Based on past experiences, I would say late October.

I race mine tonight and it was great, I ran it with a 13.5 and a 7.4 lipo. The handling of the car was great out of the box. Lots of grip with them rear tires. It was very duraable. I did put some shorter springs to lower the car, that was about it. The car was right up there with the custom works and dynatechs. I am newer at dirt oval, I was racing againest weekly racers, the custom works had 63 laps with 10.5s & 8.5s and I had 60 laps with a 13.5.

I ran mine for 30sec. with the stock set up and a Tekin 3400 2 cell lipo. The ESC died in 30 seconds. I called Horizon and he said the ESC will not run lipo..the voltage is just a little too high ? I can't believe LOSI would come out with a new R/C product in todays age that can only run NIMH ? I just don't get this. The car does look great and will most likley be alot of fun with a brushless sytem.

I have no problems running a 2100 2cell lipo in my 1/18 slider with the stock electronic's.

You have to be kidding. All I have to run in the one I am supposed to pick up tonight are Orion 3200 Carbons.

This is a huge big downside if this is true.

at least the radio is dsm(unlike the traxxas rtr's). If the esc cannot handle lipos, maybe the aftermarket voltage regulator would help.

Guys on dirtoval.com are saying if you can get some air flow to the ESC it's fine.

I talked with Losi/Horizon repair center..they said no 7.4 V lipo with the stock ESC ?

Bill Goldsmith from Losi in California confirmed the stock ESC cannot run 2 or 3 cell lipos.


I'm not bashing the product..it's a nice piece, I'm just struggling to understand why they would bring a RTR product out with this restriction. (especially when it doesn't come with a batt like their 1/18 slider does).

They have offered to replace the ESC for free , which is good news.

We tried a 5000 lipo last night, in the main it thermalled a couple of times, after the main he cut vents in the hood and removed the helmet and ran it for 15 or so minutes with no problems. I think it would do the same with a race grade 4600 pack. I am currently trying to find a good stick pack to run at our track that puts out some good power and is under 4200mah, if anyone has any input it would be great.

it says right in the booklet not to use lipos!:freak:

Do not attempt to use 2 or 3-cell LiPo or 7-cells NiMH;
doing so will damage the ESC and could result in fire.

Just picked mine up. should be a great entry level car. Was going to put my lipo in it to try it out looks like I better rig up some NIMH's until I switch it to brushless got plenty of them to put in it

Mine now has a RS PRO and Tekin 10.5 motor in it with stock gearing and tekin 3400 lipo. Run times are long , power is great. On the carpet oval it's a wheelie machine, turns pretty good.

How do the stock tires do in the dirt ?

stock tires work great on dirt, I tried mine inside and outside.

i think the 1/10 slider is just as good as cw,klien sprints and just wait till after market chassis"s,alum A arms etc. come out 1/10 slider will be a speed demon

Just too bad they couldn't have put a decent speed control in it. One of our guys ran an out of the box Slider with a 3800 NiMh and it kept thermaling in a 5 minute race. We put Slash speed controls in my sons and mine and ran lipos with no problem at all.

We wanted a box stock spec class to run and with out modifications (cutting vents, replacing speed control) that just doesn't appear to be possible.
