I am a novice to say the least when it comes to small engine (or any engine repair) but here I go....

My toro 6.5 HP lawn mower does not start.

1. I check the spark and did not get any
2. I pulled the Ignition - State - Solid and thought I would try replacing that (40.00 bucks) -

Any other suggestion before I do that or do you think I am going down the wrong path.

Should add that the engine is a Tecumseh LV195ea - part number 34443C

did you set the air gap correctly? supposed to be .010"

did you inspect the shut-off wire visually from end to end? possible that there is a wear mark and it is grounding the coil out

how good are the magnets on the flywheel? I had one awhile ago that even though the magnets felt like they were strong enough, there was one that was weaker than the other, replaced the flywheel, and it fixed it.

also, the posts that the coil bolt onto, hit them with some sandpaper really fast so that you know that you have a good ground for the coil
