Fine selection of models and a very nice case, all looks period and near mint ....i have never seen that LJN car before -perhaps its from Brazil or Argentina?
Overpaid? I would guess anything under $100 would be a fair price from a friendīs shop

car says "copyright symbol CBS INC, L.J.N. Toys Hong Kong"
and as far as $100---you are good, very good, that is exactly what i paid. Do you know if that helicopter is rare? i wasnt able to find any on ebay in the completed listings. but so far it looks like i gave a reasonably fair price for them it seems they all go for around $5 a piece loose no box, now if i had 22 boxes to go with these puppies we would be talking serious cash, but let me tell you something. i dont think i will ever get rid of these. It seems to me that even though yeah hotwheels in the seventies were insane and wildly colored, did they have character like this? i mean, look at toe joe and mod tractor, the toe joe kind of resembles the generic HW's truck cab, did the HW's version have a fully designed interior? so to make a long story short i retract any statement i ever made about LOVING HW'S DETAIL, these cars make a lot of HWs look really really bad!

Excellent finds! My reference book doesn't say much about LJN other than they were affiliated somehow with Hallmark at one time, they make generic type cars, but that one looks very nice. Almost like a British type car.

LJN was a Hong Kong firm that sold vehicles associated with 1970s TV shows: The Rookies Impala, Emergency! rescue vehicles and even a Spiderman 1940 Continental.

The third photo shows a variation of the Continental: "Captain America" sold under the name Larami Toy.

A great birthday present that you chose for yourself:thumbsup:
So the LJN car must relate to some 1970s or 1980s CBS TV show, perhaps even a cartoon???
The Helicopter isnt rare, it just isnt a hot seller for diecast toy collectors so it doesnt often escape the beater box to be listed on ebay

The LJN car is a very poor casting also, well maybe the cast is good but the paint is crap, and the windows have some serious issues because they are hiding what appears to be a fairly well thought out interior :( oh well i do think it is a cool car, i have no idea what tv show or cartoon it would be from though. thanks for the comments

Those are in great condition. You won't have to worry about upgrading them. Money well spent.

Happy birthday! Congrats on the great gift, even if you did buy it yourself. They are some pretty fantastic looking pieces! I've seen lesser quality in some of the local antique shops and they are asking anywhere from $10 up. I don't know a lot about the value of MB, but I think you did alright.

Nice selection to add to your collection. I remember having one of those red bulldozers when I was kid. At some point I lost the top to it and eventually the tracks broke and fell off, but I remember having some serious fun with it! :)

Looks like a nice lot. The LJN toy, could it have been repainted and someone ruined the windows with a chemical stripper? Just a thought. Looks like an early Cockney cab which probably had suicide doors. Hotwheels made one and matchbox had a taxi version. -Mark

Would the LJN be part of the Richie Rich series?? Or maybe Hogans Heroes?? Yes, Google LJN Hogan's Heroes, one site shows the black car in it's original blister card..
