We are attempting to find a better planet gear set-up than the original. we have a customer looking for better(Stronger) gears. He says he's rebuilt it about 5 times and the rebuild doesnt last. I'm thinking maybe something wrong with the case and/or alignment of things. Any clues? has anyone had this concern?

I think I'd start with a new diff gear and then get new gears. When I took my Stampede diff gear apart things were starting to wear funny allowing the planet gears to "slip" teeth which wore them pretty quick. Robinson Racing used to make a set of hardened planet gears for the Stampede/Rustler if I remember correctly. Maybe they still do?

I think there is an after market ball diff for the traxass transmissions. Maybe he could upgrade to the vxl internals. I am not sure if they would fit though.

Yes I didn't mention that but the ball diff is always an option so you could adjust it then. On the VXL internals...........I believe all the Traxxas nitro and electric cars (Stampede/Rustler/Bandit) have the same internal ratio (2.72) so that would probably work but don't quote me without checking (don't have anything right in front of me to prove it :) )
