View Full Version : Quality issues....
LIGHTNING44 07-16-2008, 02:08 PM First off let me say this is not a bash or put down thread. Just thought i would share some qc problems and was wondering if anyone has the same issue. I have never ever had any gl with a problem untill now. I tried to get good pics w/o glare.

FastC6Vette 07-16-2008, 04:19 PM I would email Greenlight those pictures and hopefully a replacement would be sent back to you. The paint on that is horrible and I have noticed from other pictures that the paint on the front bumper is messed up. :freak:
FLOYDFROG 07-16-2008, 10:39 PM I just picked up the '71 Hemi Charger Auction Block car tonight at Target. Car looked great in the blister. I opened it & noticed on the other side the body is full of little round dents & the paint is horrible. Very disappointed with this car
:(:(:(
I've got the same paint smear issue on this car.
Natedawg 07-17-2008, 11:04 AM LIGHTNING44, please post back here if Greenlight does send you a replacement. I would like to know if they really do this. If they do, it is a great policy that they have.
not uncommon with poor quality. i got no help from greenlight with quality issues, but alot of grief from them about how "good" their cars are. ha..
Croz222 07-21-2008, 04:36 PM That is a bad paint issue you have there, I'm sure that if you E-mailed GreenLight those pics they would replace it.
Don't go by what Kwik says, i remember his post before about how he called GreenLight and talked to one of their production guys or something but Kwik was the one being unreasonable and was told so over and over on these forums, i actually thought he just tucked tail and disappeared until he posted here...lol.. Every other "normal" person has had good experiences with GreenLight, so if you haven't already i would contact them and let them know what is going on. If you have already then please let everyone know how it ended.
jefferson 07-27-2008, 05:45 PM and that's why of the many I have found only the good ones go home with me..... I have left entirely too many of these on the pegs due to imperfections such as this. If you look more closely at them before going to the register you'd probably save yourself a little heartache and a lot more money.
then there's alot of abnormal people that have bought greenlight on here and other sites from all the unhappy posts i've read. maybe you should join 5 or 10 more websites.
your immaturity shows in your post with your personal referrences on me. your IGNORANCE is obvious..
greenlight has real quality problems. they admitted that to me on the phone.
and did absolutely nothing to resolve the problem i had with the green machine i bought that was a disaster..
the manager of the k-mart sent the entire batch of vettes back to k-mart corporate headquarters. glad to get rid of them, as they don't sell. he still has 2 cars from the first series from years back on pegs, not to mention another 20 to 25 he told me he'll have to send back or get permission to sell at .99. and i wouldn't pay that for them. a hot wheel is a better deal at that price.

LOL... you bought a GM that you knew had a quality issue, tried to yell at GreenLight because they could not guarantee you another GreenMachine... Hmmm and some how I am ignorant and immature. Funny.:freak:
moparmarc 07-28-2008, 03:02 PM Forrest Gump said it best, "$%#& Happens"
It's one thing to address the issue and let the company know so they can try to fix future problems. But we are talking about a mass produced product, sometimes things happen.
:jest:
For anyone who has blemishes on there Mopar Greenlights, Send them to me.
Id give them a good home.
Major Nelson 07-29-2008, 01:56 AM I personnally had an issue with one GL car (the lettering on the tire was off). I emailed them, sent pictures, and received a replacement car a few days later.
I never seen that from any other diecast company.
So in my book, Greenlight is way up there above everyone else.
GT350H 08-03-2008, 04:18 AM I bought a Charger 2 pack and the '71 has a scuff near the passenger "A" pillar. I'm going to take your advice Major Nelson and see what happens. Thanks.
wannafbody 08-09-2008, 09:48 PM I think that's called realism-it's a race car not a show car :-)
McRooster 08-11-2008, 05:39 PM I've been finding a spectrum of problems with their paint.
Bubbles, dirt, hair, runs, fingerprints just to name the obvious.
I can honestly say that as a group, percentage wise HW mainline dollar cars have less problems than GL.
Look at them with a loupe or magnafying glass and you'll be amazed at the lack of quality.
It's not enough to just have a nice casting.

Someone has too much time on their hands...lol
fly__life 08-14-2008, 10:56 AM IMHO GL, JL and HW have the same quality issues and it's safe to say that it's impossible to control the outcome of each and every car that is produced as it's happening with more than one company. All my HW 100% cars have no noticeable defects but then again they're $10+ a car so they better be perfect but the $3+ Ultra Hots mmmmmmmmm NOT! Why guys get angry is beyond me. It's not like they are doing it on purpose. "Hey let's tick off our customers so no buys our diecast and we go belly up and lose our shirts!". Look over the car as best as you can before buying and if it's not up to your standards then don't buy. While were on topic off "QUALITY ISSUES" why in the heck would GL put wide tires on cars that did not originally come with them from the factory like the 60's or 70's stock muscle cars and then go the other way and put thin tires on the modern cars like the Corvette.
GT350H 08-16-2008, 01:50 AM Kwick, post a pic of the car so we can see how bad it is.

I had never had any real quality issues with GL before........until I opened my case of the latest Hobby release. Almost every car has a bubble in the paint, the tires on the GTO are all out of whack on the rims, the GTX has silver paint smears on the side window and the Charger has rough edges on the sail panel that the paint does not cover up well. Small issues, really but I was even more dissapointed in the 69 Chevelle convertible from the BJ series which I have had for a while and just opened. Bubbles in the paint, and the car's base is riveted on in typical JL fashion.......haphazardly, so it does not sit level. I once got an entire case of JL cars that had these same issues on every car and I hope this isn't a norm for GL now.

To me this pic looks like this car was violated with a grinder to remove flashing before it was painted. Are they really paint smudges L-44?
Most paint smudges can be easily removed, but willy-nilly grinder assaults from the factory are inexcusable.
Lots of JLs have bad grinder gouges on the wheel openings.

This looks pretty much the way the 70 Charger in my newest set looks in the sail panel. I understand defects are going to get through, nothing can be made perfect. What is disappointing is that all but one car in a set had problems. Will I continue to buy GL cars? Absolutely. As I stated earlier, I haven't had any problems before so, I am taking this as a fluke that got through, and nothing more. I can't come down on GL too hard as they have made some nice cars that we have not seen by other manufacturers and improved upon some we have already seen.
40Intrepid 11-09-2008, 07:33 PM That actually looks like a brush mark near the window in the second photo.
Wonder if they were trying to touch up errors?

It sounds like you came here from the HWC site, people here don't make those off the wall comments trying to be funny.
bvis75 11-09-2008, 11:10 PM Here is one of Mine. I just think for the price there should not be any issues.

You mean like you just did?
JasonZ 11-10-2008, 09:05 PM Ditto. Several GL's that I have bought has wheel and painting issues.

You can actualy feel the texture of the paint. I dont think its the metal. Its like someone bruched the paint after it was sprayed
