Hello 2008 Racers!

Here we go, the 2nd annual Freddie’s 500. It will be held on August 30, 2008 with the rain date of the 31st.

We will run a whole day program and we will need to stick to the time restraints. Please see the outline below. For those who have come to one of my races, you know I can run a pretty tight ship. The reason for staying close to the time is because I will be promoting the race and concert in the local papers and radio. We should have a large turn out of spectators. We need to have a nailed down start time in order to do that.

We will be running both Sprint cars for a trophy race, and Sportsman for the 500. The Sportsman A-Main will be a 12-car field with green flag pitting. Basically the first one to 500 laps wins. Qualifying for that day will place 10 cars in the field. The other two will be the winners of the first half points series we ran at the Freddie’s Asphalt Oval. this summer, one from our sportsman group, and the other from the Grand National group

For those who came here last year you know it is held as sort of a block party. We roasted a 110lb pig, we had 80lb of baby back ribs, 60lb of chicken and all of the sides, and beverages. This year will be the same only better with the addition of a concert form a very good blues band The juke Hounds

I will attach a pre entry form to this somehow and put it on my web page. Or you can e-mail us and I can send it to you. I would like anyone who is going to attend to please pre register. It will help me determine the food and the number of shirts that will be ordered. If you pre register you will receive a free event T-Shirt. You may purchase extra ones or get extra ones the day of the event. Any questions please feel free to call or write me.

Time to eat, and relax and fix cars. All cars will only be allowed to enter the track during the break for a maximum of 5 laps for any one change. The band will play for 1 hour during our lunch.

The “500” August 30, 2008 is a normal race day for Sprint car & Sportsman. We will run two qualifiers and a main. The main for the Sportsman will be the 500 lap main feature. The Sprint cars will be racing for a trophy, while the Sportsman cars will be racing for first place, and a check for $ 300.00.

Day activities will include: a full day of racing, free food and drinks for the racers and their families. We will be roasting a 150lb pig, and have 80lb of baby back ribs, 60lbs of chicken all barbequed for your dinning pleasure. After the 500 we will enjoy a concert from one of the areas best Blues bands the The Juke Hounds If you would like to participate please bring a side dish or dessert

Do to the promotion for this event no participant who parked on the grass, west side of the track, will be allowed to leave the track area until after the concert. The concert should end no later than 7:00 PM if the weather stays nice.

All pre entries received before August16th will receive a free event T-Shirt. All pre entries are non refundable. It is a way to help me judge the days timing and help pre order all the food. Please select the size shirt you would like to receive. Additional shirts may be purchased at the event, or from this form. Please write the number of shirts you would like in each space and add your total. Remember the first one is free per class. You enter two classes you receive two shirts.

The band will be set up on the west side of the grass. They will use the north two RV hook ups We will have the stage in front of them. There will be a snow fence cutting off the public from the pit area. :thumbsup:

Thanks Freddie. just so it is covered early: Track fuel or run your own ? Will the track be open to practice on Friday ? and just a side note you have the shirts with two large but no Xlarge just a typo I'm sure. I'm hungry is that Chicken ready yet? How about the pig? Ok, Ok, I know they take time to slow cook but I'm ready. Looking forward to this. Racing and food my two favorite things...

I really feel that we will have more than enough people here that we will have adequate fueling personel.

As for the fuel, I have yet to deside if we will use our own or I will supply it. I can do either, we can discuss that later :thumbsup:

Green flag stops sould like fun, but I think red would be better & safer. I'll do whatever (if I make the 500 Randy Baker is my guy!!). LOL :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I would really like to. I need a brake trust me. But we race every weekend and with the 500 coming up, and then the Sportsman Shootout I wont have the time. Do you guys race after October down there ? I might just make a Freddie needs a break road trip and come run a weekly race. Anything is always possable :p

Freddie, you need to go and see their track in Dalles-Fortworth. It is NICE like yours! Bunch of great people to race with also. I would like to go there again. Hope they hold another NCS race there again! See Ya!:dude:

I get a bug up my butt every now and then. I dont really plan my trips I just wake up and say I will be back in a week or so and go.. Like I said anything is possable. It would be nice to get away and just relax, maybe try racing without having to do all the work that goes along with it :rolleyes:

The weekly GN main (180 laps) @ Freddies is 14.4 miles, Sportsman main (120 laps) is 9.5 miles. Heat (35 laps) races are 2.8 miles.

The Freddies 500 is 39 miles. That's a lot of RACING!!!

Thank you Jeff, I have this Sportsman car you can rub some paint with when you come up. To bad the guys from out west arn't going to make it. There tooth-less girl friends will miss them :eek::eek:

I beg to differ on "The Rookie Sensation" part that was last year, this year h is just regular Mike. And sorry to say traveling this year is not in budget!!!...
But I do want to get back to your track it is great!!!...

well when ever you can make it your always welcome. We have the 500 at the end of August and then the sportsman shootout in Oct. Both races will bring the best out from all over. You guys take care and I will see you again one day :thumbsup:

There has been some concern about the rules. I would of thought by saying Sportsman rules everyone would of figured it out. 8.5 mm plate, stock clutch springs, sportsman cup the whole bit. Simple SPORTSMAN RULES!! Any questions ?
