I've been away from slotting and posting for a while because I've been taking care of my Mom, who was battling a second round with breast cancer. She'd been sick for the last 18 months and I moved in to take care of her after my stepfather died in December. Occasionally during her illness I was able to get away here and there to race slot cars, and I really want to let you guys know what a comfort being able to race (badly) and enjoy the cameraderie with my slot car racing buddies was for me. It's amazing what coming in last place racing toy cars did for my psyche! Unfortunately Mom took a turn for the worse about 5 weeks ago. She fought it valiantly, but she lost her battle last week and passed. That's why I really haven't posted much recently. As things progress and start getting back to normal I really, truly look forward to racing as much as possible again. Here's her obituary if you care to read:

Sorry for your loss Donnie. She definitely influenced many people while she was here. My mom broke her leg in June 07. She was recovering nicely and was going to start walking on it, but she passed suddenly when a blot clot stopped her heart. I was shocked and devestated. Oddly enough, it happened July 14th, 07. This week has been tough. I too take comfort in racing. She always liked me racing toy cars, because she knew I wouldn't be in trouble doing something else. So, in a way, racing is a tribute to my mom. I hope you continue race with joy.

BDD,
Welcome back! Sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. Hopefully someday, Cancer will be a thing of the past as I am sure most, if not all of us, has lost a loved one to this disease. My father fought through it twice but the third time he didn't have any fight left. I can only thank God he didn't suffer long with his last occurence.

Don't really know what to say. A loss of a loved one is always tough to deal with but, hopefully the fact that she is waiting for you and yours in Heaven will comfort you. Some day we will all be with our loved ones again.

God Bless,

Bob

Sorry about your mom. My deepest sympathies go out to you and your family.
Try to find comfort in the knowledge that she is no longer suffering. Having lost my mother to cancer also, it helped me alot knowing the suffering was over.
