hope someone might be able to help a little, i was given an older Sears lawn tractor very good condition, except the running part, but was stored for years
and would like to get it going again

it is a 1979 sears 10/36 vari-drive model 536.658100 / code 9012

with a Techumseh 10 hp engine model 143-286102 ser# 8080r

also carb # is 653 8c1 ?(dont know what it is )

i would like to find a repair manual for this engine and or a owners manual, if possible

rings and valves are new as well as muffler


I have had the carb redone, and new govenor . new plug, new fuel lines
dont know gap for plug or if it is the correct one? currently tried both a cj6 with a 25 gap, also tried a j19lm dont know which is the correct one.

cleaned out tank, new fuel and still cant get it to run proper.

i also cant find carb settings/adjustments etc. have checked float and tried lots of adjustments but will not stay running,

at low idle it will run for a while but cant seem to get it tweaked to be able to increase idle up if i do it stalls


When starting full choke will start (rough) but cant get it to run long enough to set it properly, pull down choke and will run for a few min at idle but very rough. then stalls



dont know were to go from here, spent lots of time on an old machine but it is very cool and fun to work on ,,,if it worked,, any ideas
