My brother-in-law just bought a Carter two seater Go-cart for $300! It was pretty abused including the Techumseh 6 hp OHV horizontal shaft, "Power Sport" engine. Got it running but I am alreayd not a fan of the engine, A) no oil drain?? B) No choke??? C) Carb boggs on tip in real bad? Any advice?

For the oil drain, Check the other side of the engine pointing towards the front of the go-kart. These engines dont need a choke it has a primer. And this engine uses a float/bowl type carb which means it needs to be sorta level for it to preform correctly

I looked all over the engine no drain but this pic looks like facing the seats might be it? http://www.gopowersports.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=7518 The Kart has been run in a flat field the whole time so carb issues not due to incline. I tried cleaning the carb with spray and draining the bowl still acting-up. Also the bottom of the bowl is seeping gas out.:( The carb is $85 can I get a rebuild kit for it?

OK, got the kit to rebuild the carb and the Go-kart runs very strong now!! But fioound the very hidden oil drain plug UNDER the shroud for the fan. Well changed the oil and now no matter how tight I teighten the drain plug it leaks!!

PS. When rebuilding the carb I has some extra O-rings. Is there supose to be a O-ring under the adjustment screw on the side of the Carb. body, next too the primer bulb???? It is weaping gas out of there now.:(

Also theer was three small metal disks in the rebuild kit. I see where they went on the under side of the Carb. body above the bowl, but could not get the old ones out?? What are they for and how do you get the old ones out?

the small disc is a welch plug, don't really need to worry about that, the 2 o-rings you have go on the main pick-up tube, those do need to be replaced.

if your still leaking oil, get some plumbers putty or tape and put it on there to help seal it up

What does the welch plug do? I replace one oring on thr bottom of the pick-up tube. Does the tube come out? tp re[place the top one?

Thanks I will put some teflon tape on the drain plug.
