Thats right folks. Larry's Performance RCs has teamed up with Joe Dumars' Field House to open up a new dirt oval in S.E. Michgan. :woohoo:

We need racers!!

The track is located in Shelby Township on Mound just north of M59. The track is right behind the Field House complex. A map and directions can be found here http://www.joedumarsfieldhouse.com/ I believe that the track is 120' x 80' and will require tiller tires. No foams. Inside jobs or holeshots should work real nice.

I will be there with a few electric sprint cars running 13.5 motors next Sunday, July 20th, for a test and tune day. Hopefully some of the west side racers can come out and help me put on a show.

The current plan is to start holding a race at least every other week, but we need racers.

If there is enough interest Larry will be investing in a lighting system so we can hold night races as well.

Please show your support for dirt oval racing and try to make it out on July 20th.

Thank you,
Adam Hartzell

Hi Adam
Could you post pics of the track? And is there any nitro spints in the area?
Thank-you
Randy:wave:

I'll try to have some pics up by Friday.

As for the nitro sprints, I've got one on the bench that I'm finishing. So there will be at least one.

These were taken this morning. The track needs a little work right now as the only guys running on it are monster trucks and Losi Sliders. I'm going to see if they will let me get out there a few days next week to clean up and smooth out the surface a little more.

There are 8 electrical outlets so there is more than enough juice for everyone, just bring an extention cord, table, and chair.

you've got the start of a nice looking track but it does need a lot of tender loving care.

The track has been finished for about a month now but no one has been doing any up keep. I have been out of town for the last three weeks so I was of no help.

I'll hopefully be meeting with the Field House people tomorrow or Monday to discuss possible race schedules and the serious need for track care.

I just finished meeting with Larry. He is aware of the issues with the track and will be working to clean it up and smooth it out. Looks like it should be real nice for the 20th.

What is the surface made of? Is it sand and top soil or is there some clay involved and do you have a wattering system to keep it damp so it can get a hard groove? What are tiller tires and will it be smooth for touring car based late models?

There is clay in the surface, but no watering system other than a hose. They won't invest the money unless racers start showing up.

Tiller tires are off road buggy tires and the HPI rally tires should work great for touring car based models.

Just a reminder, we will be having a test and tune day this Sunday. However, practice is open 7 days a week. I should be there around 11am.
