Too much to post here but please help the Carolina Velodrome Association out with your vote of support to the Rock Hill City Council. www.RC-Oval.com (http://www.RC-Oval.com)
(Thanks Hank if you let this stay.)

Lin,

I sent the following letter to ALL the email address you listed

My name is Joe Myers, I am an event promoter for a Radio Controlled Car club in California.
It's my understanding there is a proposal for a Bicycle Velodrome in that region.

Through my many years of Radio Controlled Car racing we have shared the Bicycle Velodrome in Southern California (Encino Velodrome www.encinovelodrome.org) with the bicyclists. We hold about 1/2 dozen events per year at this facility, and we've been sharing it since about 1988.

The "Multi-Use" function of a facility like this, depending on how it's set up, lends itself to events like the Bicycle Racing and Training for ALL ages, events like R/C Car Racing, some Velodromes have other layouts in their infield that include tennis courts or basketball courts, and/or skate and skate board usage.

I know the South Carolina region has a lot of R/C Car racers, and I would expect there could be a decent size interest if they are allowed to share this facility at a workable price range.

Thank you

Sincerely

Joe Myers

Thanks Joe, this is the one I sent.

My name is Lin Vaughan and I am quite heavily involved in Remote Control Car Racing and I also have a online web RC magazine. I have been in contact with the Carolina Velodrome Association about their plans to build a bicycle velodrome track to the Rock Hill area. The purpose of this email is to ensure you and the rest of the City Council that the RC community will be in full support of this project and look forward to being allowed to race on it.

I run a race series from here in Virginia and we do a lot of racing in the North and South Carolina area. The reason I bring that up is that I know firsthand the money that we spend when we are in the scheduled race track area. From lodging and food to fuel and other needs, we tend to buy what we need in the area we race in and I’m sure the bicycle community does the same.

I hope that the Rock Hill City Council will look favorably on the proposal to build the facility.

Thank you for your time and please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any assistance.

Thanks Hank for keeping this up. that "other little site" not only took it down but will not "allow me" to post there anymore.

Thank you for bending the rules in an effort to support RC racing.

I'd like to thank you for bringing it up! I will always support all types of RCing and this could be a great possibility for racers (bike and RC). I've raced a few Velo races (Encino, Domingos (sp?) Hills and Indy) and I would have to say it was the most enjoyable oval racing I had ever done. Hopefully the racers in the mid/south east have a chance to experience it too!

Can't imagine a site would ban you for posting something like this... not sure what "other" site you are talking about (no need to say) but anything that could give racers a new facility to race at, much less a Velodrome, is a great thing.

I just wished someone would have convinced Springfield, MO to build a Velodrome instead of a Ice Rink. That "lost" venture is costing the city and its residents $750,000 a year and it does nothing for attracting businesses or vistors.

we'll see what happens here.... I personally would like to run on a velo... There is a LOT of oval interest at The Grove, (the local track in town). www.hobbystop.com

We currently run 3 oval classes: NASTRUCK-usually 2 mains every week, NASCAR-1 full main, and 21.5 Lipo- 1 good sized main.

I believe the interest is there, it sure would be fun, but we'll see what happens...

Thanks Hank.

I hope that all that are posting are at least sending emails. They need to know that we support their venture.

... Ice Racing!!!!!

Thought about it.

Just take some 2" 60grit sanding drums and true my tires to fit the drums. Should put the zambonni outa business for shaving ice.

Thanks Cliff.

Keep those emails going guys, pretty soon they will get tired of hearing from us and "alright already"! LOL

Seriously, the East Coast NEEDS a velodrome, not just for RC racing but for the Bike riders as well. It's too late for this years olympics but who knows, the next one may have a gold medal winner from Rock Hill !!!

Here is the latest that I just received from Spencer:

I hear they want to make a move in August, we have two more weeks to get our voices heard by City Council. Thanks for all you are doing, I have seen the message boards and chatter. Good stuff.

We have two more weeks to keep the push on, let's not stop now. If you havent sent your email yet please do it now.

Just got this reply back from Spencer:

Great timing, Lin. The vote is Monday at 6PM at Rock Hill City Hall. My partner and I have negotiated a Memorandum of Understanding with the City, and now Council votes on it Monday. If they vote yes, the real work will begin. If they vote no, we can all go home. Fingers crossed!
I'll update the site in a bit. (He's speaking of his site.)

Best,
Spencer

So, I guess we will see how many people really sent an email in and how bad Rock Hill really wants this thing.

It wouldn't hurt to send another one. Let them know that you understand that they have a Memorandum of Understanding with the City and you would like to see a yes vote on Monday.

Mines on the way.
