I might get you on this one. Does anyone know the thread size for the collet nut of a Dremel Tool?

WAY off the wall I know but I would still like to know.

...looking at mine, I'd guess a FINE threaded 8mm

I tried a 5/16th fine thread and no go. It's definately fine thread and mm is my next guess. I measured the outside threads with calipers and come up with 7 mm. Who's got metric taps though???

I couldn't even find a metric that would fit. It may be special to Dremel.

Ahhhh that ol' guy can't leave anything alone. He is probably connecting a .21 with a tuned pipe up to it.

With him there is NO TELLING.

If You Are Talking About The But That Goes Over Top That Locks The Attachment Into Place. If Thats What Your Talking About Lowes Sells Them For Just A Couple Bucks Hope This Helps

Google is your friend:

7mm x 40TPI - yep, metric diameter with english thread pitch.

another reason to be sending that guy $35 a year..

I guess I jumped the gun on the pitch. I saw a number close to 2/3mm and went with it.... .66mm is about 38TPI. 40TPI is .635mm

+1 to Hank
+1 to sending him $35 a year to solve our "Problems"

McLlin,
I dont think there is a class at the ROAR Oval Nats for nitro powered Dremel Tools. I mean, provisional classes are one thing, but you are pushing the limit with this one... LOL

McLin

But I'm only going to run 10% fuel !!!

Oh well, maybe I can work it out as a Spec class

You can run spec tires, also. But the fee will still be $80!!!!!!

this is too easy, i would tell pete or the racket, hey, let me borrow your dremel for a minute, and when i give it back say, oops, i lost the nut ,sorry

McLin
07-12-2008, 10:29 AM
Nope, I didn't need the nut, I just needed the thread size so I could buy a die to thread another shaft. But it appears that I am going to have to go another directions with this project because no one that I could find makes one.

I bet Dremel makes one. Or has a supplier. Also, a well equiped machine shop should be able to cut you the parts you need.

McLin

Well, I broke down and talked to a friend that is a designer and has access to a machine shop, it's a wonderful thing how a lathe dosen't know metric from american LOL He is going to cut my proto types.
