View Full Version : Tuff question McLin 07-07-2008, 09:47 PM I might get you on this one. Does anyone know the thread size for the collet nut of a Dremel Tool? WAY off the wall I know but I would still like to know. swtour 07-07-2008, 09:52 PM ...looking at mine, I'd guess a FINE threaded 8mm Andy Koback 07-07-2008, 10:04 PM I tried a 5/16th fine thread and no go. It's definately fine thread and mm is my next guess. I measured the outside threads with calipers and come up with 7 mm. Who's got metric taps though??? jflack 07-07-2008, 10:06 PM Sears sells new Dremel tools.......Easy! LOL McLin 07-07-2008, 10:52 PM I couldn't even find a metric that would fit. It may be special to Dremel. latemodel100 07-07-2008, 10:54 PM What you doing up now, holy cow everyone look out McLin is getting his Dremel Fixed........ ScottH 07-07-2008, 11:00 PM Ahhhh that ol' guy can't leave anything alone. He is probably connecting a .21 with a tuned pipe up to it. With him there is NO TELLING. McLin 07-07-2008, 11:01 PM If I can get an answer, I promiss you will like it! DOUGHBOY 07-07-2008, 11:09 PM If You Are Talking About The But That Goes Over Top That Locks The Attachment Into Place. If Thats What Your Talking About Lowes Sells Them For Just A Couple Bucks Hope This Helps McLin 07-08-2008, 07:45 AM Thanks but I'm not looking for the nut, I have that, I need the thread size. McLin 07-08-2008, 03:08 PM I haven't stumped you guys have I? trailranger 07-08-2008, 03:26 PM 7mm fine pitch or M7x.66mm That is what my calipers told me... hankster 07-08-2008, 06:00 PM Google is your friend: 7mm x 40TPI - yep, metric diameter with english thread pitch. trailranger 07-08-2008, 07:15 PM another reason to be sending that guy $35 a year.. I guess I jumped the gun on the pitch. I saw a number close to 2/3mm and went with it.... .66mm is about 38TPI. 40TPI is .635mm +1 to Hank +1 to sending him $35 a year to solve our "Problems" Mitch R 07-09-2008, 03:16 PM McLin is building the 1st 1/10 scale hybrid out of his .12 car and a dremel. McLin 07-10-2008, 10:06 PM Thanks guys for all the help now where the heck do I find a thread die like THAT LOL. BUT at least I have a starting point. Oh and Mitch, I bet you are going to want one (actually two). COYOTE 07-11-2008, 10:25 AM McLlin, I dont think there is a class at the ROAR Oval Nats for nitro powered Dremel Tools. I mean, provisional classes are one thing, but you are pushing the limit with this one... LOL McLin 07-11-2008, 12:58 PM But I'm only going to run 10% fuel !!! Oh well, maybe I can work it out as a Spec class COYOTE 07-12-2008, 12:19 AM You can run spec tires, also. But the fee will still be $80!!!!!! McLin 07-12-2008, 08:36 AM LMAO Now THAT was funny! really fred 07-12-2008, 09:45 AM this is too easy, i would tell pete or the racket, hey, let me borrow your dremel for a minute, and when i give it back say, oops, i lost the nut ,sorry McLin 07-12-2008, 10:29 AM Nope, I didn't need the nut, I just needed the thread size so I could buy a die to thread another shaft. But it appears that I am going to have to go another directions with this project because no one that I could find makes one. m1badcarguy 07-12-2008, 10:46 AM I bet Dremel makes one. Or has a supplier. Also, a well equiped machine shop should be able to cut you the parts you need. ScottH 07-12-2008, 05:28 PM Not sure that you are doing but what about using the cable attachment for the Dremels? McLin 07-12-2008, 07:29 PM Well, I broke down and talked to a friend that is a designer and has access to a machine shop, it's a wonderful thing how a lathe dosen't know metric from american LOL He is going to cut my proto types. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
