We have started running the Slashes at BFG. Those that have run them have had great fun. If you got 'em, bring 'em out. If you don't have one and want to try one before you buy I have at least 2 of them for rent for the race day at all times. I will even provide the charged batteries, all you have to do is wheel the truck.

Just so it doesn't get lost in the discussion, here again is what we are going to go with. Please understand we will not be telling anyone that they can not race and we will give a chance for everyone to settle into the class that they prefer with the equipment that they want to run. It may take us a couple weeks to sort it out:

1. Box Stock means you may change only the following: esc, receiver/radio, shock oil, caster/camber. You must run either the 18 or 23 pinion that comes with the truck and the 86 tooth spur. You must run the Titan motor. Period, that's it!!!!!

2. Modified means you can run any 13.5 or higher brushless or 19t or higher brushed motor or a stock Titan if you want. You can change anything and everything else: tires (must be made specifically for the Slash), steering servo, spur, pinion, put aluminum shocks on it, put any aftermarket part you want on it, go nuts!!!!!

3. You may run any aftermarket body made specifically for the Slash in either class. You may run any 6 cell NiMh or 2s lipo in either class.

4. Stock compete with stock, modified compete with modified. If there are enough of each they will run in separate heats. If not, they run GTP style all at the same time. You might finish 3rd overall, but win the stock class. Heck, you might finish first with your box stock Slash and beat all the modfieds. Wouldn't that be satisfaction!!!

I will be racing in the box stock class myself. I will keep two of my rentals set up for this class at all times.

Good stuff T-Devil, pioneering is fun right, the appeal of these trucks will surpass the T-MAXX in my opinion, plus being electric makes it simple for newbees, we should all applaud you.

There's no way in H.E. double hocky sticks you could triple a slash with the current restrictions on power, now if you could put one of your rocket motors you use now it might be possible.

So your saying theres a chance!

Not worth messing with the stock set up.

I was landing on the top of the third jump of the triple, just couldn't get enough to land on the backside. Close, but no cigar.

Decided to simplify the specifics for the Slash spec class:

Slash body and tires, 550 12 turn Traxxas motor. Battery (6 cell NIMH or 7.4 volt lipo max) and speed control (allows use of a speed control with lipo cut off) are of your choice along with radio gear. Replacement parts need to be the same as original but can be of different material.

Bottom line is replacing or upgrading anything that enhances performance (makes it go faster or handle better) is not allowed.

Hey T-Devil, you have both new and used Slashes there at the track right, any interest in trading for a XXX-T with all electronics installed, Novak Rooster, Futaba radio gear, Reedy 19 turn Spec motor, barely ran, just throwing it out there, if any one else is interested let me know, I've been trying to get rid of it for a while.

This will age me in the R/C world. Anyone remember these?

http://www.apexspeed.com/doug/rc/xx4we/heavymetal_losi.jpg

The Class 8 Truck conversion Losi used to make for the XX4's years ago. The best part of them is that the body acted like a kite and the "trucks" sailed way further than the same chassis with only the regular XX4 body.

I'm going to have to wheel one for a few laps or rent one for the day. Too bad they don't have an ARR version w/o the radio and an unpainted body. If so I'd be all over one like flies on bean dip. Box stock and no mods are cool to make it an even playing field. I hope to make it out next weekend to see them in action.

We only need a couple of more Slashes out on a regular basis to really get this class off the ground. We did a demo in the parking lot at Sidetrax last weekend and the response was great. Lots of new folks getting a few laps in with the Slash.

Remember I have 5 trucks that can be rented for the race day and I provide the batteries if you want to join in the fun.

I've been skeptical of the Slash because of it being a Traxxas and my fear that it will soon become a non-spec class, but I've got to tell you, they make for great oval racers (yes, oval racing). It's not so much that they are built for oval racing (they're not), but they're all the same and they race great together. The bodies make it possible to run tight without worrying too much about getting sent off the track if you accidentally touch each other, which is nice on the oval because even with the fastest marshalls, you're going down a lap every time you bump.

That coupled with the fact that BFG has half a dozen or so of these for rent make it a really accessible class to run for just about anyone. Anyone considering the hobby for the first time or that just wants to have a great time racing with tight competition, should really try these things out over at BFG.

btw- I'll bet they make a great basher for the back yard. We whacked these things into the wall pretty good and John says he hasn't had anything break yet.

Thanks for promoting these John!

Bob, Erv and myself went at it on the outdoor track with the Slashes today and again the fun factor was off the scale. I think Bob and I ran close to two laps side by side, rubbing and bumping, what a show.

These trucks are the real deal. We have been looking for a truck that we can rent for 2 years and finally have one. If you are looking for a truck for the kids this is it.

I can't get enough of running them.

Ok everybody, here is a chance to infect another track with the Slash virus.

Duke's next race is August 16th. It is a trophy race for off-road in the morning and oval in the evening. There is no racing at BFG scheduled for that day (off-road or oval.) I am planning on going over for the entire day and taking the Slash fleet with me.

Here is my offer. I am looking for 4 BFG regulars (not eligible if you already have your own Slash. You have to bring your own ) that will go with me and run the Slashes as a class. I will provide the trucks and batteries and waive the rental fee for the day. All you have to do is pay the entry fees at Duke's.

In his thread, Duke has offered to pay the one event R.O.A.R fee for 5 of his regular racers that are willing to attend the Region 5 Off-road race that we are hosting in September. Thought this might be an appropriate way to say thank you.

First come first served!!!!! PM me if you are interested.

Bob, Erv, and anyone else who has or will have their own by then make plans now. Would be great to bring a class of 7 or 8 for the day.

Did I mention it is a trophy race?

Let's do it!!!!!

Sounds like you guys are spooling up the Slash Spec class!!!
We will be running the same class at Washtenaw RC Raceway this winter in Ann Arbor.
Same rules.

I can't wait for mine to get here. I got to drive one for the first time at Pheasant Run on Saturday. What great fun. And then got to see the full size trucks race on Sunday on NBC. The RC are very realistic.
Did you all see the Traxxas TV Commercials?

Where's Dukes?

I was busy with our Sunday afternoon race program and racing the Slash. One of these days I have to catch one of the televised events.

All I know is I can't say enough good things about this truck and even those that are skeptical have good things to say once they have driven it.

Where's Dukes?

Duke's track is Proscale R/C Raceplex. It is located in Fruitport, MI (near Muskegon)

He has a red clay off-road track and a clay oval. The clay oval is second to none. Word is the oval is smoother than a baby's butt. Getting a chance to make my first trip over there from Grand Rapids on the 16th.

All Slashes are claimed for the 16th at Duke's.

CJ, Beef, Leonard and Butch.

We will watch for details from Duke and make plans from there.

Now you're talking. I'm really glad to see the BFG gang hit the road together. It sounds like a lot of fun. Get over there and represent.

I wish I could make it to that event. I don't think my wife would go for spending our anniversary in Fruitport, although that would work just fine for me.

I'd love to see Butch wheeling one of these things around an oval.

Have fun and get pictures for the website!

Been having great fun with the Slashes on Friday nights. 3 were rented for the evening tonight. Still time to get in on the point series for the Slashes if you make the last 5 races of the series.

We run them on any race day when there are at least three of them to make a class.

Hey Cooter. You think you will be able to make it to Duke's on the 16th of this month for the trophy race? All 5 of my rentals will be in action for off-road in the morning and oval in the evening so we already have enough for a class. Duke is even giving a price break on the entry fee if someone runs morning and evening.

Of course hope to see the crew out between now and then for some wheel time at BFG.

Dang Hank, that was fast.

If you can't make it up to BFG, I am thinking we will be bringing them back to MX131 on the 23rd of this month. Am going to try to have some BFG regulars driving them.

We are also going to be at Duke's on the 16th for the whole day. Off-road in the morning and oval in the evening. Got about 7 coming so far.

Troy Schroeder was at BFG today and is talking about getting one after take the wheel last night.

Glad you enjoyed it!!!!!! Hope to see you at the track. Let me know when you can come up and I will make sure we have a class of Slashes that day.
