I saw some 1/43 SCX and Carrera F1 cars. They looked pretty
good and are much cheaper than 1/32.A decent sized layout
could fit in a basement. The SCX chassis looks alot like the
Scalextric 1/32 except smaller.Alot better looking than the
Artin stuff.Has anyone tried these? Can they run on Scalextric
1/32 layouts?

TjetTim,

The Carrera GO!!! 1:43 scale slot cars will run on a Carrera 1:24/1:32 scale track. I have a few different ones in-stock but they are not yet shown on my web site. If you email me your address, I would be glad to send you one (brand new - in package) to try out. If you like it, pay me $13.99 (incl shp) or ship it back - no strings attached other than you having to pay shipping back to me - making it even as I am shipping it to you.

Let me know...

Not a bad offer. Plus they run on the big track, might have to think about upgrading from HO. Some great looking 1/43 & 1/32 cars and with the large track, alot of room for sliding. :):) rr

Upgrade from HO?

In size only,I want some toys.My HO cars are serious racers, new
arms every other race, zap the magnets, new shoes every race.
I just bid on two SCX 1/43 F1s,I thought they were 1/32.Guess
I will get to try some.If I don't like them, I bought the neighbor
kids an Artin set last Christmas, they might get new cars.As a 'Pro'
in HO since 1988,I don't get to run 'stock' cars very often in competition.
I went into t-jets,but Fray ruined them.I am hoping the Tomy Mega Gs
can bring a new class to HO.I love all kinds of racing,Tjets to Unlimited
HOs.Why limit one's experiences?

to Tjettim, I have raced these cars on a 1/32 scale track. they are not all that great. I like all type of racing and there is not much to them. 1/32 carreras are much more fun. 1/43 is great for kids. the artins are cheaper and also act cheaper.

Aren't all slot racers just big kids?

Aren't all slot racers just big kids?

According to my wife, yes! :p But as I tell her, it keeps me out of trouble and at least she knows where my "fun" money goes. HA!

I actually thought about picking up a 1/43 setup to check out but instead went with the HO layout. I now have both 1/32 and HO tracks and cars. I'm with you tjettim - I don't really limit my slot car experience and enjoy the cars and racing them. I don't have Fray, Unlimited or any HO racing venue, right now, but it's OK - racing at home has been fun and a lot easier with an HO track. I'm working on my space layout and availability now and hope to get some more room to keep the tracks up. We'll see....

The 1/43rd stuff is OK but to my mind this iteration of them should be looking much more like this:

The good news is there is a really good after-market chassis on sale now. PM me for details.

Are these 1/43rd scale cars? They look like 1/32nd scales. And which scale has a good after-market chassis? If 1/32nd, I think I'm aware, but if 1/43rd that's news to me.

After market chassis and exspensive speed parts will only
hurt the sport, look what happened to 1/24 years ago.

1/43 is a big thing on some other forums(don't know if it is cool to name names),and i am also into it.the carrera go cars are the best i.m.h.o.though i haven't tried the scx compact line yet.i think they are about the same in their design, but scx uses guide flags.they need tweeking like cars in any other scale and i would like to try the go's with scale auto's adjustable power supply(down to 9 or 10 vlts?),no magnets and some lead weight!this scale is interesting to me because of the huge availability of 1/43 diecast models(and some plastic kits) that can be "easily" converted(by way of re-casting or vac forming the body)to a slot car body shell.the thing is it's largely a d.i.y. thing if you want to create some outstanding looking (and driving) cars, every bit as realistic (and way cheaper)as anything in 1/32nd .sometime in the future,i am going to make up some cars based on carrera go f-1 chassis at some point,as the motor is the perfect size.i'll also use scx guide flags made for 1/32 cars(@hobbytown-a pack of 4? for 6$) i have a couple of porsche 917 variants(yes i know i'm a porsche nut!)in die cast ready for the mold making process, and i also intend to make up some nice 60's grand prix cars.this will be my cheap, homemade "garden scale" grand prix set up!!!the car montoya1 shows would make a great f-1 slot car!sorry to ramble!!!!

Nice looking pics BK! Definitely look like 1/32 scale detail, but you can tell they are 1/43, especially on the Carrera track that supports up to 1/24 scale.

And thanks for the link Montoya - that site definitely has some nice upgrade and hop-up parts for 1/43rd!

I might have to look into grabbing one or two to check out on my 1/32 scale track. But you guys said that you think that Carrera is better than SCX? Seems a little reversed when compared with the 1/32 world - SCX is usually better than Carrera.

Thanks again!

If the Nascars are any indicator, then SCX 1/43rd is way better than GO!

thanx pd2!i havent tried scx, yet.does anyone know if the scx compacts still available?i'd like to get my hands on a couple of those f-1's(available only in tracksets i think).i have seen the stockers and they are nice looking cars(they also use guide flags, advantage scx).yet,i do like the fact that you can buy the go!!cars individually.

I've converted 99% of my 1/43 Artins with Slide Guides and 1/32 SCX flag guides and removed the magnets and they are a blast to race and run.
There a wealth of info on the Home Racing World board on how to do all kinds of tweaks and upgrades.
